I managed to get it worked out, though holy crap I need to get windower, or at least the SE one. I couldn't even do anything. I miss the simplicity of playing on the console. If anybody wants to take pity on me and help me understand just what I need to do, PM me tomorrow or something.

Use that to use your PS2 controller on PC, it's what I use.

Everyone has windowed mode if they play on PC. It's built into the config application on PC. WIndower4 is miles better though.

My PS2 controllers are crap now. When I was last playing XI, I remember having to make sure the analogs were in a perfect position before I turned it on so I wouldn't be autorunning or crap like that. I'll probably just spend about 15-20 dollars and get some cheap plug and play controller. That said, in the game do I have to go into some menu when in POL/FFXI to program/enable it or will it just work?

I probably will *gasp* use the unofficial windower eventually, but since I am literally doing nothing but running around and clicking on home points if that, I don't care about that yet.

Oh lordy... Well, I guess I have something to keep me occupied if I want to spend a few hours doing mindless things this week. At least they're marked on the map, so I can find them with ease. I still find it weird that some of those zones (towns, particularly) have like 3-4 different ones. N Sandy is one that stood out to me. Just put the crystal somewhere between the old conquest warp guy and MH on the east, and the one at the west gate is fine. Why is there one in front of the castle or in the guild area?

well, you can teleport between homepoints in the same region for free. they're like aethernet shards in FFXIV like that, useful for getting around town quickly. Or if you're at a different homepoint, say jeuno, and decide you need to buy something from the carpenters guild, you can go to the jeuno homepoint and pick the one closest to the WW guild instead of having to run from the mog house or whatever.

I am doing all the Abyssea zone bosses with a few people and it's hilarious to have a 100% crit rate and every crit hits for 1k damage. I don't even bother WS'ing.

Save it as an .lua in your addons folder as Sparks or whatever name you choose then just load it in game. You'll automatically buy a shield each time you talk to the Sparks NPC. Just stand in front of the NPC and enter, esc, enter, esc, etc until you've used up the desired amount of sparks. I wouldn't set it as auto load in the init file to prevent accidentally using Sparks when you mean to buy something else, it's easy enough to load/unload whenever you need it.

make a eudameon, shout for a group. spawn valiant crabs and colibri(1-2 worm on 3rd+ floor) , shijing after 1000 points AND all the crabs/colibri are spawned, then upgrade the book when all are spwaned the pop whatever is the lowest costs. Blow whistle if base gets below 50%

Mind you, one Besieged as a modern 99 and you'll pretty much have enough Standing to rent that Mog Locker till Doomsday. They've never changed it because it's incredibly easy to get currency now.

Edit re Besieged: I just basically let my pet solo a rank 3 besieged and only got like 2500 ISP. Do pets not count well towards credit?

I think the problem there is the rank 3, not the pet. Rank 8 should net you much, much more.

I actually rolled my Locker past 2038 so the moogle just tells me "Your Mog Locker is active until :: //."
