Are there any guides to the various "new" content types with respect to accuracy required/gear levels and job roles? I see shouts for Devle bosses that always seem to be the same jobs, Blue Mages for alluvion skirmishes, and the typical jobs for unity fights. I read over the bgwiki articles, but they're a bit lacking. I'm trying to decide if the gear I have is adequate for doing various content.

I've got 117/115 swords, some reforged 109/119 AF and relic, augmented Delve1 gear, and all non-UL blue magic. Based on what I've seen, I'll want to do ASkirimish for better swords and armor, but all the groups I've tried to join have wanted someone familiar with the content. Where is an acceptable starting point based on that gear? I do have everything except GEO at 99, but they've all got even less gear (essentially all sparks with some WKR and bayld).

Tangentially related, is the best way to get Rem's Chapters solo doing the 500 damage RoE? I've gotten a couple groups for 1-5 BCNMs, but I haven't been able to do any 6-10 and have gotten them all (slowly) via sparks.

What would you say bgwiki is lacking?
Aside from the fact the only real place you are going to get info on what you want (jobs, setups, etc) besides a forum is a talk page no wiki has really going for it.
I could start listing what I do the events with on talk pages, but you honestly should know this for most events simply by going in a random PUG. It is not like you need to take any certain jobs (besides the obvious things, IE WHM for DDs) for almost all of Delve and Skirmish. It only gets specific for something like a BCNM or Vagary.
The best way to do the 500 dmg RoE for chapters is to make a group of 3-4 people and do normal, and then for 6-10 it is nor hard to do D KI fights, but normal is fine if you just want to do that since PUG members suck.

Lacking information about how geared one should be to enter certain content. I used the content level to get a general idea, but given the variance in stats on iLvl gear (particularly accuracy), I didn't want to go into an event blind. I tested my accuracy on some 123 mobs and it wasn't great, so I figured I would ask. Now that I'm typing this, I've remembered there exists a forum full of mathy stuff, so I suspect the answers to those questions can be found there.

As for content, I was hoping for a link to somewhere on the forums that would have the common strategies so I can see if I am capable of filling roles being shouted for without being the specified job. Since I haven't done most of the content (or it has changed since I last did it), I'd like to read up on what people do. I haven't played the game in a year or two, so I'm just trying to soak up all the information I can about why specific strategies are used so I can join some of these PUGs confident that I'm capable of filling the role they're looking for. I've made the assumption that I should be able to fill any melee DD role, but I've been upfront about the gear I have when inquiring about joining groups for various content and they shy away (I imagine because well geared DDs are easy to get). If I knew that my equipment was acceptable for the content, I wouldn't bother informing them.

For example, I see shouts for Alluvion Skirmishes for Blue Mages. My understanding from reading the forums and wiki is that this is for AoE magic damage against certain monsters. I read through the Alluvion Skirmish thread and it didn't seem very complicated, so I'm unsure why groups are hesitant to take someone who hasn't done the event before. I have decent MATK and AoE physical builds, so I imagine I'd be adequate, but some of the posts talked about having two MATK clubs. Requirement or bonus? Hard to tell, but it seems like most PUGs see it as the former.

I suppose the thing I'm trying to accomplish is to find where I should start (besides reforging) to get to the point where I can get a couple of those pretty Claidheamh Soluis swords. Once I check through the math posts, I should have a better idea of the required gear progression, so perhaps this whole post is unnecessary. Like I said, I'm reading through the various content threads, but there are a lot of posts, so I was hoping that someone may have already consolidated links to various strategies. If not, I'll get through the threads eventually, but I figured there was no harm in checking.

To be fair wiki has never had how well geared people should be to do things. The breakdown I always give people is that FFXI is 50% skill 25% knowledge 25% gear.

I do occasionally (rarely) add the accuracy a DD needs to pages such as https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Furious_Arundmite ,but half the time I forget. I don't test it to be accurate because I just use a certain amount of accuracy and use scoreboard to see if I cap at certain levels with certain sets for a fight or two on BLU. I carry a solo TP set, a march TP set, a low accuracy set, mid accuracy set, and full accuracy set though so I can scale it pretty well.

BLU is overrated in [A] Yorcia (most PUG members suck anyway), and since skirmish is so easy it is not like you really need to be picky over jobs in any of them. However, yes two MAB clubs if you do that as a nuker. Even though in an all mage group I find myself killing all the fucking butterflies with sinker drill and delta thrust with clubs on meanwhile mages come kill my eles! Fuckers. Get magic hammer if you do this and take off battery charge and autorefresh if you use that for some reason.

You can start wherever you want. Prothescar has a great BLU guide on ah.com (he is working on moving it over here instead it seems?), and you can go for easy gear that is replaceable or go right for the top tier gear (pretty much just Skirmish and then the few random pieces).

Don't use double Claids, even with perfect augments on both they are inferior to Claid/Usonmonku B or Bura (Tojil).

A baseline of gear would be Taeon x5 with triple attack +2 augments (easy part of augmenting the gear). Until you get really good augments on your Taeon head (augment Taeon with STR/DEX combo) you are best off using the hat from Hurkan with an 8 dex augment. See: https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Prah_Janimhar

For doing events such as AAs I personally always just did them PLD (we could take a kewl NIN or two to AA GK, but I wouldn't in a PUG) BRD WHM RNG or GEO RNG RNG or COR.
Avatar fights? I go WHM BRD SMN DD/NINx3
Chapter 1-5? Go on N with 3 people. Yes that includes someone to buff and or heal you.
Ouryu II? THF (steal invincible) DD DD GEO BRD or GEO WHM
Mithras? SMN PLD BRD DDx3 SMN for PD, PLD to hold them. BRD sleeps pets. I go DD COR/nin (good luck finding a DD COR lol, also the best job for delve IMO if its a good DD)

Delve? All easy runs. WHM BRD GEO DDCOR DD DD should destroy everything.
You only need a SCH or RDM to stun for Tojil.
Easiest to do a PLD WHM BRD COR RNG RNG setup for marjami though.
Kamihr should have varied DMG types (once again DD cor is great) a SAM for light SC on T2 (they also cover slashing) and a MNK/RUN for fire damage (and the ice resistance) on boss to help take down the aura (only danger) as well as wildfire from the COR. I haven't played COR in about four months (wow..), but I keep harping on its use for this shit because it is rearry gewd.
For plasm you can spam Yorcia because it is a joke. WHM BRD GEO COR SAM SAM since you are a BLU you can replace a SAM in this case.

These are not the only ways (especially mithras), but just random ways I have come to do things.

That's the info I was looking for. Thinking back, it may have been in the spreadsheets in the forums and not directly on the wiki.

That's what I've been using to get an idea what I should be using. Must've misread the weapons section, though. Thought it said two Claids were preferred.

Read the most current page of it, 72 or something. The math was done before the augment caps were known. Claid with good or (really good?) augments is still the best mainhand, but uson or bura offhand is better now that they are known to be lower than thought.
The BLU guide can get out of date on certain things pretty quickly so reading the posts is very beneficial.

They have done it for 22 months in a row, and say they will do it indefinitely. The campaigns are almost always 30 days long, with 23 days to earn points, and an extra 7 that you don't earn any before they expire to make sure you have time to spend them. February only had 20 days to earn points, and the usual 7 extra to spend them.

How hard would it to be to gear and level a GEO from 1-cap? I've never really dabbled in mage gear except for BRD gear. I have a 119 THF WAR, and BRD to a certain extent.

Most of the gear is quested, with some pieces coming from skirmish and delve and then the JSE bell. Geo/handbell skill are your main focus and shouldn't take long, but you also want elemental, enfeebling, etc. because you do more than just play with the shake weight every few minutes. Check out the FFXIAH forums for gear sets in the job forum.

While accurate for the simplicity of the question asked, it's answers like this that lead to poorly geared mages. For a person who has never leveled a mage job and is looking for information, how 'bout we work as a community to push him/her in the right direction, as the poster above you did?

I know that if I chose to level a heavy DD job, I'd want plenty of advice because I care about how I play my current jobs and wouldn't want to embarrass myself on a new job.

Tidane, FFXIAH job specific forums usually have a sticky with gear sets in it. Some of them are updated, some of them aren't, but since returning I've found that they can be very helpful in terms of finding what new gear I need to aim for, even if the main page hasn't been updated the thread itself generally has enough info in it to point me in the right direction.

I appreciate such fine and constructive criticism, and it got me thinking.

We could log on and level for him as a community too. Then we can all fight over various aspects of mageliness, how to make proper mage macros (with and without /p text), and then leave a book under his pillow in the mog house titled "How to Mage for Dummies".

He didn't ask what he should wear or what he should do. So my apologies for my response of essentially "yes" that was boldly crafted in the fires of Helheim to assure him it isn't difficult and he shouldn't worry, being a leading cause towards the plague of bad players that face Vana'diel.

I mean it is almost as if I expected some sort of dialogue to begin in the form of posts following that. So I could then type walls of text addressing various aspects such as far above to an aspiring BLU. Unfortunately I might just have just potentially lead him into being a poor mage with my feeble attempt at assisting him.

As such I am making sure I properly address your concerns and note this helpful and constructive criticism from you. Hopefully I can prevent myself from making such blunders in the future.

So in the past 24 hours I got a little silly with leveling my former 37ish jobs up to 50+.

    THF 37>50
    DNC 35>50
    NIN 37>51
    DRG 37>55
    SAM 40>60

I did this solely in the jungles on RoE (I was lucky for the first few, because I was killing opos and the current task was killing beasts, so even more bonus).

Where can I go from here? I'm probably going to consider SAM out of those, though I still need to get my 90ish jobs to cap too. Should I solely try to find some Old/Zilart/Promathia zone/dungeon, or are Aht Urgan/Wings zones also viable? I actually have really enjoyed what could only be categorized as a huge grind, but only got annoyed when Ayame would be trying to open a SC once I hit 1000 TP when the mob was at 3%. That's why she gets benched for Zazarg or Iron Eater, because considering my options, at least they'll just not piss me off like that.

I also still have BLU at 44, and I may consider going longer term with that, so at least to get it to 60, any opinions on where I should go with that?

I'd generally suggest looking for Grounds of Valor areas to level in, since the rewards for those creep up per repeat (up to a cap) and wind up being generally more rewarding than FoV. Also, you get bonuses (Prowesses), and there are nice items in some of the crates.

'course, with double XP and all, the training regimes might not be as key.

If you're looking at what jobs to level, moreso than the next spot to XP them, BLU is very nice these days. It's been a great lower level content job for a while, but now is in relative demand for a lot of content. It does, however, take more work than most to put together - but if you want a project, having that list of spells to learn might be a plus.

I guess my one concern is that GoV seems even more easy to be underleveled skills versus FoV. I was I think nearly 55 when I learned Jinpu on SAM, and at 60, I'm somewhere 35-40 levels low. I could spam the hell out of those skillup things, but man, I miss the days when seeing the yellow text about skilling up after you stab, nuke, etc. something.

They did make it so you can cap skills on DC mobs now at least. Still, it's going to be an issue either way. Might as well get the levels to let you work on trial weapons, wear better gear, etc sooner rather than later.

it's suuuper easy to cap melee skills at 99 now. Get a medium level weapon, some whm and brd trusts, and auto attack an urganite outside of West Ald. You can also buy some skillup foods from an NPC stall near the mog house.
