Our downstairs neighbor has been moving all of her stuff out because she is moving to live with her boyfriend.

On the last day she was here she had a kinda last minute garage sale thing, me nor my girlfriend wanted anything from it and told her so when she asked as we were leaving for work. We work a night shift, I work from 3:30pm to 12:00am and my girlfriend works from either 5:30pm to 4:00am or 7:30pm to 6:00am depending on the week day. When I got home that morning we noticed that all of the stuff she had not given away was piled in the back of our parking spot (205) which hindered our ability to park and her parking spot (105) was empty.

The shit is junk: a headboard, two chairs that smell of cat piss, some bed railings, a table with two broken legs, a bike with two flat tires, and a can of paint

We moved all of her shit from our spot to hers so we could park. I'm curious if there is anything legal (State of Washington) against us moving her stuff from our spot to hers knowing that she won't be back, or if it is now in some crazy fucked up way our responsibility to do as we see fit with it.

She abandoned it, you can do whatever you want with it. Moving it to another parking spot and pretending it was never in yours is probably not the best solution, but it's unlikely anyone will care.

Just put it in her parking spot and if you get asked any questions, say she was moving and left w/e she couldn't sell/give in her parking spot before driving off

I do but its like a 5 hr drive from where I currently am, even if it was closer I wouldn't really truck her shit over there, I'd more thank likely notify her that her shit is in her old parking spot.

That's what I was thinking.

Her shit is not your problem...at all. Management knows she just moved out. They can put the pieces together. Just tell them it is all her shit and she left it out there with no help or input from you. She is the one that will lose her deposit over it and you just have to look at the shit until someone is sent out to toss it all.

In Washington the tenants are pretty protected especially in apartment complexes. Just be proactive and notify management that it is not your shit. That's it. The rest is up to them. You might keep the bike though....tire tubes are cheap and bikes sell for good money on CL around here.

I am really good at not articulating my thoughts. It makes sense to me because it is in my head. So even rereading what I wrote doesn't always mean I said what I was trying to say.

Even if he had left the stuff in his space and used her space to park instead, it still would not be his responsibility to take care of the stuff. He just took it upon himself to deal with the inconvenience and move her stuff out of his space. I would have done the same except I probably would have put the stuff in front of the neighbor's door to make it clear that it was her stuff.

There is a reason I refuse to live in an apartment. I have yet to find a valid reason for living in an apartment. Here in Portland, OR and in every other town I have lived in, I have always been able to find a house for the same price or less than I would pay for an apartment. I'd even pay a little more just to not have to deal with shit like this....people are selfish idiots.
