ELBOW ROCKET ENGAGED
wow nice find
^^ cool alien designs
I really hope this movie is a smash hit this summer. Something tells me it's going to flop miserably though. With a budget of 200+ million? I may end up eating crow, but I've really not heard much excitement from people or hype. Other than myself, a couple friends, and this board.
I hope this movie becomes a smash hit too, if only to see more giant-robots-kicking-ass-movies in the future. And potential Hollywood-style Gundam movies too, because, imagine if a good director (I don't know, maybe Nolan?) is attach to a Gundam picture.
If they made a quality Gundam movie they would have to show it in porn theaters because there is no way I could watch it without jerking off at the same time.
Saw an article last week that it is expected to flop. Apparently grown ups 2 is trending better
Del Toro is a great director. He bailed on the Hobbit to make this movie. I sure as hell hope it doesn't fall flat on its face. But realistically Del Toro while being an amazing director, he doesn't have the best track record (think Hellboy 2). The problem is anytime you have a story like this come to screen you alienate all the non Giant Robot/Monster types.
They needed to keep this movie way more underwraps like they were able to with the Matrix so many years ago. So people could buzz about it afterwards.
Hopefully all of the eye candy is not being leaked in advance.
Wat? Hellboy 2 was as good if not better than the first.
I think he means with the box office returns. Budget was probably 100+ mil with advertising, and it only pulled in 185 mil. That's not bad, but nowhere near the level execs want to see. Pans did 84 mil, but only cost about 20 mil to put out.
The man does some brilliant work, but doesn't cater to the average idiot, which prevents a lot of people from seeing his stuff. Oh well. Their loss.
Yeah Hellboy 2 did poorly in the movie theaters but god damn I love that movie. It's my favorite movie of his and I must've watched it atleast 30 times
GDT is a brilliant director and auteur. Pan's Labyrinth and The Devi's Backbone are two of his best films. GDT is one of those nerds that absolutely loves his profession and is willing to fight tooth and nail against production companies if they compromise his artistic vision (Mimic was butchered). Anyway, I heard kids the other day talking about the giant robots they had seen on tv and that they wanted to see it. Hopefully the movie will get the same kind of reaction from other kids and make it a hit.
I found Pan's Labyrinth to be an excruciatingly horrible movie. The only good thing was the special effects. The story was more like a video game plot, the main character was stupid and all the characters were easy to hate.
