Requiescat has a significant advantage in both fTP and WSC. It might be workable due to crit buffs and low cRatio, but it's still not going to pull ahead of AM3 Almace.

Oh I know it won't compare to almace, I'm just curious about vorpal vs. requiescat on high end mobs. Even without champions drink, what level of attack buffs would you need for requiescat to win?

Quick and dirty simulation on Motenten's spreadsheet for the sake of saving time... Caveat that I have no idea if Requiescat's attack scaling with TP is correct here, as far as I know his values for 200 and 300 TP are arbitrary. Atmacites were Discipline, Latitude, Valiant; unsure if this is optimal. Assumed fulltime AM3, Bergressor, Stalwart's, Champion's, Braver's, Monarch's. dDEX capped for both Almace and Tizona. cRatio capped aside from Requiescat.

Requiescat fared reasonably well since most of the attack penalty was negated by buffs and reasonably low defense. Vorpal still sucked, couldn't get the damage anywhere close to matching Requiescat (>20% difference) even when I forced uncapped cRatio. Almace still had the edge as long as Requiescat's cRatio was uncapped; if I forced it to cap then Tizona pulled slightly ahead as stated above.

Cursed Pumps -1 basically don't exist on Odin. Is it the same on other servers? I have the abjuration ready, but am I going to have to make friends with a clothcrafter or something to get these? There's only one sale on the AH and I've never seen one in a bazaar.

I'm pretty sure I saw an occasional 0.2 after 60, but it had to be a fairly large gap in skill (~10). Generally, don't count on it.

Are you able to be relevant and successful for most of the endgame stuff nowadays as a melee with any weps that aren't relic/mythic/empy?

Specifically DRK and SAM as I'm considering leveling a 2H melee for my lineup, but don't really want to make an emp as I got 3 other melees that need them still..and yeah.

DRK and SAM can probably get by without at least Empyreans, since they rely heavily on Resolution/Shoha, but beyond those two, you'll be at a pretty large disadvantage without an Empyrean/Relic/Mythic (and even then, someone with Masamune or Ragnarok is probably going to crush you).

Did you change your settings in Windower or FFXI? It may have turned off your sound of reduced the number of sounds available some how. (It happened to me a few months back for no discernible reason.)

None of my jobs have empys/relics/mythics.

I'm okay with it. I can't imagine I win parses anymore, but I'm competent and do the shit I need to with my jobs (farm dynamis, vw proc). Then again, players who parse crap like vw don't understand how parsing works.

The only demanding thing where it arguably makes a difference is NNI, which I do not do.

To put it another way, empy/relic/mythic is no indicator of job competency, but they'll definitely make you better at your job if you have them.
