Is there any mob out there that deals a set amount of magical dmg that is only affected by lowered mdt that someone can reliably solo long enough to get it to use said move and can engage over and over?

Manticore with breath moves? BDT would affect that though.
Hmm wouldn't care about bdt... but mdt still affects those? Guess I could line myself up to compare
Actually, MDT shouldn't affect them if I remember correctly; I haven't worked with breath spells for a few months.
Edit: Ok, breaths ignore MDT http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/103...=1#post4571275
Assuming six players what's the best way to fight old odin? Zerg and non zerg if applicable.
No need to zerg.
Use 2 NIN, 1 THF, WHM, BRD, and one more person (job doesn't matter). The Ninjas must have and know how to use Migawari.
Strategy:
1) Don't bother with songs or other buffs really (get rid of Slow and try to keep up Haste). He dispels every 10% and 10% doesn't take much time. The bard is there for Dread Spikes.
2) Send the NINs in as your DDs and have them cast Migawari after the second Sanngetall (cast between 75 and 79% HP), fourth Sanngetall (cast between 50 and 54% HP), and seventh Sanngetall (cast between 25 and 29% HP). Migawari will negate Geirrothr.
3) Your Thief is in and out putting TH on.
4) Everyone but the NINs needs to be 20'+ from Odin at 75%, 50%, and 25% HP. At 10%, they all need to be 30'+ from him.
5) At 10% HP, one of your NINs should disengage and heal while the other pushes Odin below (with a WS or something). When Odin starts talking, have your second NIN disengage and heal as well.
6) When Odin spawns adds, ignore them. They will despawn when you trigger the next Sanngetall, so the best way to deal with them these days is really just to supertank them and focus on DDing to make them go away.
That's pretty much it.
I went and got a pair of Koga other day at my normal camp. Dropped from either a thf, nin, or rng dun rember which. But honestly if ur just after the kote camp the nin nm. Shit is like a 90% with th
You could do it with pets if you want, but it'd be a slower fight than just tossing two NINs at it and you need 6 people anyway to enter the chamber.
We recently tried it throwing like 4 pets at it and a war... yeah it dropped really fast lol. Most of the bst didn't even have much of a pet set.
Also interesting side note we tried v2 with a more traditional setup but still a bst or 2. We were really undermanned was more of just to test the water so of course we wiped fairly quickly. At which point a bst/rdm put the genbu pet on odin and it litterally tanked Odin for a good 5 minutes before dying somehow. And this bst only had one incomplete pdt axe and I don't think he had amk head. Still can't figure it out really lol. I guess harden shell must be really pimp + def
I 6 box odin for amps, you don't actually need 6 players to kill. I use SCH NIN THF BRD and afk the other 2. Embrava at the start and you wont need heals at all, the sch can just do cursna/shell after dispel. I dont bother hasting myself cause it gets dispelled so fast. I do thf/rdm and diaga the adds but just straight tank them. BRD only does finale again because i am busy on the other chars and buffs get dispelled so fast.
So in order to do Odin v1 the area reserver needs to have 1 feather from each tier and everyone else just needs to be able to enter the area, or is it still like it used to be?
Random Question Thread XXVIII: Only the reserver needs 3 Feathers
It changed, same as odin2
Derp I just realized otherwiki hasn't even bothered to update that page
That's what I get for using otherwikiThanks for answer
Speaking of Odin, do your feathers still get eaten if you aren't the reserver?
I'm confused, and I just read the BGwiki page. Do all 6 participating need 1 from each tier, or only the reserver, or if they had any feathers they will lose them?
Could 5 people who have never done Ein before enter because reserver was eligible? Also, this person must spend 6000 ichor to have a full "pop set" and the other 5 don't have to spend anything?
Only the reserver needs them but everyone's feathers are consumed. Where were you looking on bgwiki? This is the only spot I can find, and it's very clear:
- Reservations may only be made for Valgrind by players who possess at least one feather from each of wings 1, 2, and 3.
- Only the reserving player needs to possess any feathers; other players will be allowed entry without feathers, although all feathers in possession from any entering player will be expended.
So, yes, I can bring 5 people who've never touched einherjar before and myself having KI and 6k amps to spend per entry and I'm golden.
Yeah, I actually took a mule into Odin v2 ~the night of its release and he had never even beaten a Tier 2 chamber. Did you see it somewhere else? The problem with Wikis is that the same information ends up on multiple pages and it's hard to track down and change every one.
