New character, so I have never done salvage on it or an assaults. What is the best way to get ranked up, do salvage and climb floors on Nyzul now? I have access to three characters at least, so I can enter myself if needed. I have a good 99BST

I'm not quite sure what you mean by your question... Getting ranked up as fast as possible will net you all the points you need, as the best way to rank up is by clearing each assault individually. Each time you clear a new assault, it counts as 5 towards your 25 points needed per rank up, where repeating an assault only gets you 1 point. Likewise, clearing a new assault also awards an assault point bonus where repeating does not.

Nyzul climbing, on the other hand, does not fit anywhere in the equation of rank ups nor AP for salvage so you will likely have to focus on one or the other, or balance them any way you choose. If your goal is just to be able to salvage daily while working towards rank ups and nyzul, then you can probably get away with doing 3 new assaults per week (give or take) and using the rest of your tags on nyzul climbs.

I essentially just want to prepare my character for when the new Neo-Salvage comes out, I want to be able to join groups without restrictions. That's all I really am looking for, I want to join Neo Nyzul as well, but I need to get a more heavy DD since I've heard it is essential to havea good DD set up since reaching floors in a timely manner is crucial.

Your best bet is probably to get captain as soon as possible by clearing all of the assaults one by one. You'll gain a lot of AP that way and you'll also have access to the easy AP farming assaults like Red vs. Blue. As a bonus, you'll be able to carry up to 5 tags for when you want to spam nyzul runs.

Just outta curiosity, with the discussion about thunder macc staff and using shock for debuff. Has it been tested that the debuff from enervation (magic def down) doesnt act as a thunder debuff?

I had planned on killing all the crawlers on WAR with fell cleave, and just mazurka my way to victory from that point on with just 3 chars. But then I realized nobody has ever killed the crawler before (at least to my knowledge) so I don't know if they repop or not...

Idk if they repop but they're easily killable now - at worst it's 5mins free to mazurka around which is probably enough to clear most of the run.

multiboxed it recently NP. Cralwers die very fast now so we just killed them instead. still need bodies to carry as much food as possible though.

For some reason FFXI does not have sound effects anymore. I checked my launcer.ini file, I should have sound, but for some reason, nada.

EDIT: Never mind. I just deleted all of the ini files and made a new one with the same exact data, it works now.

So after recently obtaining my friends character, I realized it has 87 Fishing. Is it worth it to fish if I don't have Lu Shangs or Ebisu? Would Lu Shangs be worth the investment? Any tips for someone who knows nothing about fishing?

No. There is nothing worth fishing beyond 60ish without a Lu's at the very least. If you use a big rod like Composite to avoid breaks on things like Grims/Ahtapots, you will lose a lot of catches on smaller fish like Dil/Black Sole/Mercanbaligi/Bastore Bream.

Lu's will more than pay for itself skilling up in places like Nashmau/Talacca Cove or even SSG. Though at that skill level, you'll need something tougher (I did it quite a while ago on Armored Pisces once I capped on Black Sole/Dil, which are still fairly decent money)

If you're looking for techniques on building macc staves, I recommend a BLU friend to help! Unfortunately for the thunder macc staff I had to use manifestation absorb- MND. Cheers

Not the most useful bonus unless your whole group has it or if you're prone to forgetting to pick up a tag between runs.

I had the exact same situation except it had 96 instead of 87. Find a friend with Ebisu and offer to buy Liks/Gugs from them, start building GP for serpent rumors (you shouldn't need lu shangs for most of the GP fish) and work your way to ebisu. Lu shangs on Asura is is like 5m+ last I checked.
