Random Question Thread XXVII: Okay this roman numerals bullshit is getting ridiculous

Im a windower nub, I ended up dling the map/text/icon custom dats that are stickied on the forum, after doing them ive noticed the tp party numbers and mob's hp % have skewed and now are out of place and overlapping the bars in the bottom right corner. Do I need to manually move their position back to where they go by trial and error, or is there a way to reset them to get to line up correctly with the new custom stuff. Thanks!

So..I can pull in about 100 currency at most in BST/DNC in Dyna-Valk, and this is with TH1 pet. Can MNK/DNC really do better than BST with TH pet? I have MNK leveled and geared too..what's the zone/strat for this?

Happened to me when I set menu resolution to a different setting than main res. You need to change the menu resolution to the -- option (default) in ffxiconfig. If that doesn't fix it I don't know what it is.

Sometimes there is a lot of competition, other times there isn't. Honestly I see a lot of taking forever to proc a mob, getting 1 coin drops constantly, or perhaps just not getting the full 2 hours? With Clipper on and Widescan I -still- end up with about 100mins tops in a run.

Returning player, have a couple of questions. I'm sitting on enough to create a relic or take a empy to 99, thinking of ragnarok for a WAR. Is this the best/most relevant relic to create to get me back into higher end event content, or should I go with an ukon or something else? I'm able/willing to level and gear any job.

Can someone post or put me in the right direction when it comes to pdt/mdt/eva gearsets for nin? Having trouble wading through all the info( I tried search for all these questions but they are pretty hard to find, buried in threads, unless I fail at using search properly.)

Also, is there a point in gearing a taru for tanking at all with gimped hp/vit? It's been some time since I played seriously, my main was an elvaan nin and pld but I had to reactivate with a taru mule...wondering if its worth it to take tanking seriously on taru or if I should stick with dd/mage. Thanks.

I have only done 3 runs as bst solo in dynamis (my first time soloing in dynamis since coming back) my bst gear is horrible and was burned up so my axe skill is only 250ish. In those three runs I have got 120, 139, and 128 in coins with little to medium competetion proccing is never an issue just my kill speed since my gimp axe skill and gear, yours seems low for having higher axe skill, what pet are you using? Stupid question but you sure you getting the 5th TE?

Wouldn't that work out to be +25? 8 merits, 2 per level gives 16 plus 9 from the base.
The only trouble I see with using the gown is that enlightenment is only good for one cast. If you're recasting Embrava to get 15 minutes instead of 12, you'll have to save it for the last cast. You'll have a lesser Embrava effect for 2-3 minutes, which isn't a huge deal.

I'm . . . not actually sure, lol. I basically changed jobs to SCH99 a few times so I could cap its merits and haven't taken it out of the MH apart from that. I imagine it's not a strategem, in which case you'd be correct (but it'd only apply to one party). That'd work for NI, but not for something like Legion.

Maybe you should put less time into being a giant douche bag? You're ridiculing my gear without even understanding why it's lower quality. I geared it up to the minimum to solo Dynamis reliably, as well as Af3 seal farming. I am only playing BST to farm, it's by no means my main, and I don't care to put tons of time/money into a job that I only use for simple shit.

My main is MNK and BLU..MNK is much better geared.

I make sure to get all 5 TEs every time. I honestly think it's a combination of me only getting 1 drop per mob quite often (bad luck with RNG) and competition being terrible. I've tried running at different times and there's always people in there, and they always have like a THF duo partner..and pull like 4 mobs at once. So you got 2-3 people doing this and after a while it gets to a point where everyone's waiting on respawns.

Whatever. I feel like 100 currency a run isn't so subpar that I'm failing miserably at FFXI. I just was curious on how MNK/DNC gets more.

Seconded. I understand a work in progress but simply justifying being gimp because it's not your main? Your farming will benefit from better gear so there is no reason not to upgrade if you use the job at all.

It really depends on zone knowledge if you're doing everything right, mostly knowing where the 20s are guaranteed to be and not being afraid of using reraise if you have to (you can still easily take out 10s while weakened, though not a problem for a bst). My best is 111 remaining, but I average out to 100-110.

Part of getting a good drop count is being able to switch mobs swiftly when the proc changes. If you're hoofing it halfway across the zone to get to a different proc type, that's time wasted getting coin. Especially since you're gonna have to walk your way back.

There's also the typical "avoid competition, use haste", etc. which you probably know already.
