This one really got me excited for this. Last sci-fi movie I saw was Oblivion and while it wasn't the best, it wet my whistle for something more.

Looking forward to Jodie Foster as the bad gal.
I think the movie will be good but then again I am a sci-fi fan.

That being said, I couldn't agree more. The back-gear gun thing looks and feels retarded. I am not a fan of it at all. I had a similar feeling with district 9 weapons/plot devices(fuel turning people into aliens -_-).

    Kind of a derail;

this post reminded me that I sort of wanted to see Oblivion, so I hit up a torrent site to find it. Still only not so good cams of it, so I didn't bother downloading it, but I found the search results hilarious.
    Spoiler: show

I just got home from seeing this in IMAX and it was everything I was expecting. If you liked District 9, you should have no problems liking this movie.

Saw it last night at 10. Movie was good and plenty of times I was like oh shit! If you liked District 9 as the guy said above me you will like this. Crazy thing is I didn't know Kruger was the main actor from District 9 until they actually showed him in the movie. I wish more movies in the future would use weapons like the ones they had.

Good to hear, the reviews I've heard weren't very flattering but I still wanted to see it.

Think the few reviews I've seen have all been "Wah, its just a liberal propaganda movie about the evils of the rich, health care, and immigration".

Just came back from seeing it. It was good. Sharlto Copley kinda steals the show. Lots of explodey heads and bodies.

Just got back from watching it. Definitely enjoyed it and wished it were a little longer. Lots of awesome weapons and explosions for sure. The pacing felt fast, but not too fast enough to take away from enjoying the film.

I loved the movie, there's honestly not much to complain about but I do have one nitpick in the spoiler(just to be safe) below:

    Spoiler: show
I don't have many complaints about the movie, but I wish Jodie Foster's character had a bit more development. It's obvious that this was something that was brewing in her for a while, but all we really got to see was the straw that broke the camel's back. If they started off with showing a bit more of her aggravation with the current president it would've made the plot just a little more solid.

I agree. There's so much to expand on that I'd love to see in one form another...Max's criminal past, how Delacourt found Kruger, the technology of the film...so much awesome shit I want to learn more about.

This film would have made an incredible miniseries. Instead we got a lot of shallow cliches running next to a shaky cam for 90 minutes.
    Worth a rental.

pretty much what i thought, it could have been great, but it just wasn't long enough to make every storyline meaningful, and that's saying alot because i usually think every movie is 20-30 minutes too long. i'm not mad i spent a few bucks to see it though

Just got out of it, there's only the shaky camera during some action sequences, most of the movie has a stable camera.

Was enjoyable, worth the matinee price for sure. Lack of pig gun is disappointing though.
