Was the New Spiderman better than 2002's Spiderman?

I would make the argument that a radically different spiderman would be as viable, as it would avoid the problems of "oh boy another spiderman 1." What would really have been ballsy would be no reboot, Spiderman 4, have Tobey die in the first 10-15 minutes, and introduce donglover as the new spiderman. I feel like that, while risky, would potentially have been amazing.

I did not quantify it properly. My point is that he will be viewed as less than the original if the original does not get a proper send off.

I'd rather he stood as a hero in his own right, not someone in a shadow. Anecdotal. People don't like shadowed heroes. Makes them wish the original were around.

I was trying to maintain some bit of realisticness in that, afaik, Tobey wasn't interested in any more, so short of recasting, which has it's own slew of issues, an extended intro cameo is about the best we could hope for.

nah, like i said in the other thread, they'll cash in on the "death of .." plots eventually, if not in DKR. It's a great story that would require an actual movie plot.
