I agree that it should be reinvested in the business, but that's also the decision of the owner/ceo/board depending on the structure of the company moreso than a jury of people.

Is Gearbox publicly traded? Do the have a board? 2k games is traded, but if Gearbox is a private company he can do what he wants with bonuses and incentives from clients (client in this case being 2k) as far as I know.

EDIT: For instance, my friend started a business with a partner with some investment from his father. They all get a cut of the profit at the end of the year. They can also decide not to take that cut, or as much of that money, in favor of reinvesting in the company. That decision is theirs to make, though, not the employees or the public's. Obviously this is due to the way the company is structured, and I don't know what Gearbox's structure is.

Some have said that the $12 million was supposed to go to the employees while this makes it sound like he was supposed to get it in chunks over time but took it all at once, semi-early.

I didn't know this, but that doesn't make him guilty of embezzlement. I won't disagree it's shady and that not paying the VA is shitty as fuck.

Oh man the list of what hes done goes on and on. Not all of them are related to the millions he kept. Theres another story of him going to one of those medieval dinner shows with his laptop I guess? Anyways, he left behind a USB stick, and someone found it, booted it, and found all these business documents he wouldnt want people to see. No big deal though, right? Well...the person who found it also claims he found child porn in it too.

Now, the chain of custody of this drive is fucked up, so you cant say definitively that it was his child porn, but uh...weird look. Lol

Remedy has Reclaimed the Publishing Rights for Alan Wake from Microsoft

For its first half-year period of 2019, Remedy Entertainment Plc records approximately 2.5 million euros of royalties from previously released games as one-time income. The royalties are paid to Remedy during the second half-year period of 2019. In relation to this, the publishing rights of Alan Wake games are reverted to Remedy.

This one-time income does not significantly affect Remedy’s full year result, because as previously reported, the Company continues to invest in developing new games, the success of which have a greater impact on the Company’s full year revenue and result.
