Why make tons of money when you can make MORE money?!

allegedly Ubi and Crytek got hacked and are being threatened with the release of the source code for Watch Dogs Legion among others

They start putting ads in games like youtube that is an instant no buy from me. I don't like sports games anyways but I would absolutely hate for this to become a thing companies try to do.
That's not as bad as a full on youtube ad, but it does still feel very out of place and a bit annoying.
Product Placement vs An actual unskipable Commercial.
Sports games have always been $60(And now, $70) Mobile game. They make absolute bank and the type of people who buy them give a shit but not enough to stop shooting ball.
I couldn't play street fighter v for more than twenty minutes because between every match was a fun advertisement for the ps4 capcom cup

just like XIV Coleman placement
But guys it's to make it a more authentic experience!
I'm sorta fine with games advertising events for the game you're playing as long as the ads don't disrupt the gameplay to feed you info. In SFV's case the loading time between matches on PS4 is super ass so the ad isn't actually delaying matches, it's just that fucking slow.
Not all games would do well with ads though as some it would just be super immersion breaking.
Maybe if it was something different every time it wouldn't be annoying, but I don't need a capcom cup reminder every 3-5 minutes.

As we’ve already reported, in October 2020, ransomware gang “Egregor” has leaked data that it had obtained from the internal networks of Crytek and Ubisoft. And it appears that the source code for Watch Dogs Legion has been leaked online. The source code for this triple-A game is around 560GB, and it’s already available for download on various private trackers.
Egregor was also the hacking group that leaked all the latest details about Crytek’s upcoming projects. As we’ve already reported, Crytek had plans for Crysis Next, Crysis VR and a new Ryse game. In addition, Crytek is also planning to remaster Crysis 2 and Crysis 3.

From my one source (NicheGamer) it a hoax threat now the cops are looking for the source.
Super late edit: Source apparently was someone inside the office but nobody has been charged yet.
