Supposedly all because of something he said about XC3
Supposedly all because of something he said about XC3
it's def a mix of JRPG weirdos that can't handle criticism, the haters he's accumulated over the years for saying things like The Last of Us 2 is good, and career industry types who get offended when outsiders move into their spheres.
i'm not a huge fan of Jason Schreier but his take is p much 100 on this. personally hope it works out and Dunkey do publish some decent stuff with this. he does have p good taste and a marketing platform indie devs can only dream of. we'll see.

Pretty rare when I do agree with him too. Usually his takes are hot garbage.
It's silly to me that most people can't enjoy a shitty game and admit it was shitty, gotta stand up and defend everything even if it wasn't good. I think XC3 was as generic as it gets for dialogue, had awful systems, and I still liked it. But I can admit it was shitty for every reason he chirps it for. Objectivity and all that.
I tend to agree with Dunkey, though. It just wasn't as good as Super Mario Bros 2. But it's alright. We'll get something a bit meatier next time.
I thought people were also mayad because he posted a heavy spoiler from the ending cutscene on twitter
But i will say anyone complaining about spoilers in his video is dumb as hell. I didn't want to get spoiled so I didn't watch it until after I finished the game
he posted a minor Easter egg for like 15 minutes before taking it down and the backlash was already in full swing, but ya a lot of Xeno stans took that as an excuse to ramp up the rhetoric
they've been mad as hell since the extremely critical Xenoblade 2 review, everything after has been icing
I can't blame him. Besides waifus XC2 was meh. GATCHA mechanics and the non-blade characters being dull as hell made the game feel like a slog later on
Meh I loved both XC2 and XC3 and couldn't care less if he doesn't like them. His videos are funny and shit on them, so what.
Its cool Dunkey is getting in the biz…..but I feel like there’s a bit of a contradiction in his stated goals. Like, he’s going to give creative freedom but he’s also going to be giving his published game a stamp of approval for excellence. I don’t think he can promise both unless 1) The publisher drops support right before launch or 2) He only publishes games when they’re just about done. You can give Dunkey an amazing pitch for an amazing game, but executing on that, or reiterating on the game so its completely different, there’s a lot of unexpected stuff that happens during game development. It’s not a science.
Saudi Arabia's Savvy Games Group is investing 142 billion riyals ($37.8 billion) in initiatives aimed at making the kingdom a global hub for gaming.
Their game development agenda includes 50 billion riyals ($13.3 billion) to acquire "a leading game publisher to become a strategic development partner".
That's kind of a weird figure, as most known industry publishers fall way above or below $13B in equity. And this being KSA, they'd probably pay a whopping premium over an entity's appraised value.
Bandai-Namco ~$14bn
Nexon ~$14bn
Unity ~$9.6bn
Krafton ~$6.7bn
Embracer ~$6.6bn
Konami ~$6.4bn
Capcom ~$5.6bn
37 Interactive ~$5.4bn
Square Enix ~$5.2bn
Wonder who they're actually looking at.
Foreigners buying publicly traded Japanese companies is complicated and can have a lot of legal hoops to jump through, probably wouldn't be any of the publishers falling under that umbrella
I could absolutely see Nexon going for that kind of shit.
Considering the stupid shit Unity just got into, I could see them taking that deal.

Leaks saying SH2R will be PS5 and PC only
Wasn't there some drama with the VA's from SH2/3 remaster? Wonder if they're gonna re-record everything from the ground up.
