Falcom is coming back to consoles with an upscaled version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. Dengeki PlayStation announced The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC Kai HD Edition for PlayStation 3. The game is slated to be released on December 13 for 3,990 yen ($51).

If you haven’t been following the Trails in the Sky series, "FC" is the first game in the series called simply The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. Xseed brought this title over and released it in North America last year. Perhaps, they’ll pick up The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC Kai HD Edition too?

Ensure that you have all of the pertinent backstory for Assassin’s Creed III by adding the Assassin’s Creed Ezio Trilogy to your collection on November 13 for $39.99. Offered exclusively to PlayStation 3 gamers, the Assassin’s Creed Ezio Trilogy includes all three of Ezio Auditore da Firenze’s legendary adventures: Assassin’s Creed II with all downloadable content, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed Revelations.

Meet Ezio, the dashing hero of the Italian Renaissance in Assassin’s Creed II as he embarks on a quest to avenge his fallen family members and uncover a despicable plot that threatens to plunge all of Italy into chaos! Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood picks up immediately following the events of AC2, and follows Ezio as he delves deep into the heart of corruption in Rome, and rises to a position of prominence and leadership in the Brotherhood. In Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Ezio has become an older, wiser leader of the Assassins… his path will lead him to exotic Constantinople in search of truth, but will he find it within the ancient homelands of the Assassins?

With Assassin’s Creed III primed to launch on October 30, follow up the biggest game of the season with a little background on another legendary Master Assassin: Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

[EDIT] I should have checked the ME3 thread first. Oh well, fuck it, news thread is news thread. [/EDIT]

Mass Effect trilogy coming to PC/360/PS3 mid-November.

    http://www.masseffect.com/about/trilogy/

Against my better judgement I'll probably pick it up for PS3, even though I already own ME1 on PC(beat it once), ME2 on PC(barely touched, thanks launch bug that took Bioware nearly two months to patch) and PS3(backlog got in way). Assuming it includes all the DLC that is.

Great to hear the new Joe Danger is coming to PS3, loved the original, then started to get annoyed that it looked like it was going to be 360-exclusive only from there on.

A bit random but I'll just dump it here as I don't think there's a thread for it:

Been watching my friends play Alien: Colonial Marines at Eurogamer Expo (London) today -- I didn't queue in time so I could only watch.

The game looks fantastic! I love the futuristic battlefields.
We were not allowed to play the Aliens, only the marines.
A team of approx 10 Game Devs (I'm sure there were 10x2 screens facing away from each other) were playing the Alien side full time against 10 other random peeps on the marine side.
When I asked one the reps why we weren't allowed to play as Aliens, he said it would take too long to learn it as it is much harder gameplay (?)
The Alien side seems overpowered. A small alien would would dash up to you and mow you down in 2 shots. There was also a larger alien that seemed impervious to anything and would one shot you. They are very very quick. And I believe the random players didn't get enough time to adjust/learn the game, so was dying very fast anyway.
I queried to the rep about the overpowered Aliens. He says that they're not overpowered, but we're not going to beat the Game Devs at it. lol

After a lot of consideration, we have made the decision to not launch NBA Live 13. I'd like to give you a bit of perspective.

When we started the process of bringing back NBA Live, we knew it was going to be a long journey. We started by moving the game to a new studio. We brought in some of the best new technology that has helped fuel innovation in our other games. We launched an even deeper level of engagement with our community to gather more feedback directly from fans. And we built a whole new development team to bring it all to life. We felt like we were on the right path.

We also made a commitment to deliver a high quality experience — this is what our fans expect and what we demand of ourselves at EA SPORTS. But making great games is not easy, and we're just not there yet on NBA Live 13. Having continued to look at the game over the past few days, it's clear that we won't be ready in October. And rather than launch midway through the season, we're going to sit out the full year and stay focused on making next year’s game great. This decision puts us on the right track for success well into the future in a rapidly changing industry.

I'm disappointed that we have not yet met our high expectations with NBA Live, but I remain motivated about where we're going. We're committed to delivering new innovation in online, and our progress in the visual presentation of the game continues to take big strides. We also know that a great game starts with great gameplay, and this remains a huge priority for us.

This wasn't an easy decision, but it's the right one for our fans. I hope you'll agree when you're able to play the game next year.

Andrew Wilson - Executive Vice President, EA SPORTS

A man, clinging to life. His two sons, desperate to cure their ailing father, are left with but one option. They must set out upon a journey to find and bring back the "Water of Life" as they come to rely on one another to survive. One must be strong where the other is weak, brave where the other is fearful, they must be... Brothers.

505 Games in partnership with Starbreeze Studios and filmmaker Josef Fares will release Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons - previously known as P13 - for Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and for Steam in spring 2013.

    Cliff Bleszinski Departs Epic

Today we are saying farewell with warm regards to Cliff Bleszinski, who is departing as Epic’s design director to chart the next stage of his career. During the past two decades, Cliff has helped shape many successful games that have captured the imaginations of millions of players around the world. We are grateful for his influence on Epic’s legacy, from the wild adventures “Jazz Jackrabbit” to the visceral combat of “Gears of War.”

Said Tim Sweeney, Epic’s founder, CEO and technical director, “In 20 wonderful years with Epic, Cliff Bleszinski has grown into a true design luminary, and his contributions to the ‘Unreal’ and ‘Gears’ series have helped shape the game industry into what it is today. Cliff leaves Epic with our gratitude for his many contributions, and our wishes for continued success in the next chapter of his life!”

“In my 10 years of working with Cliff, his passion for creating video games of the highest quality has been unflinching. We are grateful for all of his hard work, and remain committed to making our fans happy and to always raising the bar in everything we do at Epic,” said Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps.

“Cliff has been my friend and business associate for the past 20 years and, while it is sad to see him move on from Epic, I know that everyone here has benefitted greatly from his passion for gaming and the depth of his expertise and experience,” said Mark Rein, vice president of Epic. “I’ll miss watching his star shine from such a close vantage point but I’ll still look forward to watching his continued success.”

We would also like to share an excerpt from Cliff’s personal note to his colleagues:

I’ve been doing this since I was a teenager, and outside of my sabbatical last year, I have been going non-stop. I literally grew up in this business, as Mike likes to say. And now that I’m grown up, it’s time for a much needed break.

I will miss the projects, the playtests, the debates, and most importantly, the people. Epic only hires the best of the best, and it has been a joy working with each and every one of you on a daily basis, whether you were hired weeks ago or decades ago. I have been fortunate enough to collaborate with a variety of disciplines, from code to art to marketing and PR – it’s been one big, rewarding learning experience. I’m confident that each project that is being built, whether at Epic, Chair, PCF, or Impossible will be top notch and will please gamers and critics alike.

We wish Cliff the best with his future endeavors. You can, too, via @therealcliffyb on Twitter.

    Oh this is hilarious
    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...te-and-tom-hal

"We've got this person who was a big part of the Wizardry series, and TOM FUCKING HALL"
"Oh, yeah, and John Romero, but we're going to be more quiet about that because, you know, Daikatana."

Still though, if the pedigree is good for you, and you want the game, give it some cash, because fuck the old publisher model.

Bethesda Softworks, a ZeniMax Media company, is pleased to announce it has established a new studio in Austin, Texas, Battlecry Studios, to be headed by long-time industry veteran Rich Vogel. Most recently, Vogel worked at Bioware where he served as the executive producer on the development of Star Wars: The Old Republic. Rich has a long history in the industry having worked on Ultima Online, and Star Wars Galaxies as well as other online and console titles during his 20+ years in game development. The new studio is currently hiring other experienced game developers to fill key roles for an unannounced project.

“I have always admired and respected Bethesda’s approach to making great, original games,” said Vogel. “It’s a belief and passion I share, and I’m looking forward to building a team of high quality developers who want to bring that same commitment and creative energy to the games we’ll be creating.”

“We are very pleased to have someone with Rich’s vast experience join us at Bethesda,” said Vlatko Andonov, President of Bethesda Softworks. “Rich has a history of building and managing talented development teams and bringing high quality games to market, and we look forward to working with him on a new exciting project.”

Battlecry Studios will be the second ZeniMax studio located in Austin, joining Arkane® Studios, whose highly-anticipated title, Dishonored™, ships this month.
