Sega decides NFT'S are fun again.
The outcome is very dependent on the community reaction. Games as services will financially be attractive for players until they are “hooked” into the system in mass, then the prices will rise and you’ll end up with “you don’t really own the game you are licensed to play it” bullshit for good.
So yeah, the community should continue saying “**** you”. I want to own my games, grab them off my shelf and play even decades after.
The Atelier gacha game is out if anyone's interested:

Granblue too strong. Survived the P5 collab and even went back and upgraded the event character.
Riot Games has also laid off 950 people.

so the rumors about X-Box going 3rd Party going forward seem to be holding more credence.
Personally, I don't think they go full 3rd party like Sega. They've already staked their middle ground with gamepass between Nintendo and Sony based on the court hearing over Blizzard acquisition, so it would kind of be odd to drop it entirely so soon.
My bet is that they put out a Gamepass focused console ($350-400 dollar range) that may/may not be modular to some extent, have a baseline monthly subscription model with 6-12 months of exclusivity for 1st/2nd party titles, and then release those titles either full retail on all platforms or at an increased monthly subscription rate for Gamepass on Playstation or Switch.
Saying Xbox is going 3rd party is weird when Microsoft owns PC gaming.

Shifting attention from hardware to software is a smart move for MS, going mutliplatform with the likes of Elder Scrolls, CoD, Diablo, future Starcraft games etc. has the potential to make them the biggest gaming company out there.
This was their strategy w/ Apple competition as well. Rather than competing on the hardware side, by focusing on software they literally put the office suite into every Mac, iPhone and iPad out there. See how Apple tried to compete with MS Office by its own office and productivity suites and ended up failing miserably on their own hardware.
