2013 Showcase
http://gematsu.com/2013/01/capcom-ar...r-ps3-xbox-360Capcom has announced Capcom Arcade Cabinet for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in this week’s issue of Famitsu.
A free release, the game will see Capcom’s retro arcade titles “perfectly reproduced” and distributed in order.
We take it that means it’s a hub for retro Capcom arcade titles, which you’ll have to purchase separately. But there is one starter game you will be able to play for free. We’re not sure what it is, though. There are plans for packs containing a number of titles that will be “surprisingly cheap.”
It is unknown whether there will be online play, but there are online rankings. Capcom promises a more detailed announcement on February 7.
Note: Xbox LIVE Arcade box art for Capcom Arcade Cabinet was leaked last month, signaling a likely worldwide release.

Rumours have been swirling for years about a possible sequel to Black Isle’s legendary and powerful roleplaying game Planescape: Torment, but the closure of the original studio and the jealous guarding of the Planescape rights by owners Wizards of the Coast seemed to have put paid to any comeback. But with original Interplay boss Brian Fargo very much back in the RPG business with current studio inXile’s wildly successful Wasteland 2 crowdfunding, everything changes. He and his team have come up with a way to make a new Torment game: this is really happening.
And there was much rejoicing.
Read on for details of its new setting, the people involved, whether it’ll link to the original game, which thematic aspects will recur, how the combat may work and how they’ll get it made.
First up, the new setting for this new Torment will be Numenera, an original roleplaying setting and system created (and recently Kickstarted by) Monte Cook, a contributing writer/designer on the original Planescape pen and paper RPG and assorted other Wizards of the Coast projects. A mix of fantasy and sci-fi with a strong focus on storytelling freedom, it may not be Planescape but hopefully it offers an appropriate blend of liberty and strangeness for a new Torment game. Have a look at its site for fulsome details of what’s planned for it. Here, meanwhile, inXile boss Brian Fargo sheds a whole lot of light on what the partnership means for his studio’s Torment sequel.![]()
IllumiRoom is a proof-of-concept Microsoft Research project designed to push the boundary of living room immersive entertainment by blending our virtual and physical worlds with projected visualizations. The effects in the video are rendered in real time and are captured live -- not special effects added in post processing.
I just saw that. That looks fucking horrible.
I'd be more interested if it were like those Google Goggles where the game platform is literally your surroundings. I'd love any excuse to break the boundary of our current tunnel-vision and tv screen affair. That Microsoft idea sounds great on paper.
http://www.siliconera.com/2013/01/09...-over-twitter/Alas, Konami don’t have any news for you Suikoden fans out there, but they’re listening, they say. Konami’s official Twitter account in the U.S. just tweeted the following:
The last Suikoden game released by Konami was Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century for the PSP, which they published in Japan in February 2011. The game has not been released in the west. Prior to that game, Konami published Suikoden Tierkreis on the Nintendo DS. That game was released in U.S., Europe and Japan.Dear Suikoden fans, It’s incredible to see the outpouring of support from our fans for the Suikoden series…
We love Suikoden, too! In fact, we have several huge fans in Konami’s own offices…
Sadly, we have no new announcements regarding the Suikoden series at this time…
We appreciate the feedback and encourage an open and honest discussion with you, our fans, on as many channels as possible…
So please, continue to let your opinion be heard! We are listening.
& for those that haven’t played this classic RPG series, Suikoden 1 is currently avail for download as a PS1 Classic on PlayStation Network.

Seriously, that thing just came out of nowhere.
Why are all their eyes looking up rather looking straight? They look almost borderline retarded..
Glad I wasn't the only one that thought that.
First pic reminds me of TETSUOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Final Fantasy X HD News Coming “Soon” Say Square Enix Europe
We haven’t heard a squeak out of Square Enix about Final Fantasy X HD for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. That might be changing soon if Square Enix Europe are to be believed.
In reply to a fan asking about the game, Square’s European division recently posted to their Twitter account (via: Hachima Kiko): “The world will get answers soon, we promise.”
Around a year ago, Square Enix stated that Final Fantasy X HD will be an HD Remaster, not a full remake of the PlayStation 2 game. However, they added that the game’s visuals, when it is released, will be “much more beautiful than before”.
http://gematsu.com/2013/01/warner-br...arkham-domainsThe next Batman game, if there is one, could be called Batman: Arkham Arises or Batman: Arkham Origins, according to a list of new domain names registered by Warner Bros.
Then again, a report last year revealed Warner is planning a movie based on the Batman: Arkham Asylum game series for 2016. So these could apply to the title of the film, as well.

http://gematsu.com/2013/01/sony-exec...t-for-may-juneSony Home Entertainment vice president Hiroshi Sakamoto has teased a PlayStation 4 announcement for May or June this year.
Asked by Chile news site El Mercurio On-Line at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas whether the PlayStation manufacturer is planning a new console announcement this year, Sakamoto said:
“That’s still a big secret, but our friends at Sony Playstation are getting ready. For now, I can only say that we’re focused in the gaming event E3, scheduled for June.
“This announcement can be by then, or even before then, in May.”
Asked if it would be a “major announcement” or “complementary” one, Sakamoto responded: “Probably the first. On that date, we expect to deliver great news, but we must wait until May, at least.”

http://www.siliconera.com/2013/01/11...ed-to-persona/The Persona brand is arguably the strongest brand from Atlus and their parent company Index Corporation. While we haven’t seen a brand new Persona title for a couple of years, the Persona team went on to develop the unique block climbing game Catherine.
It looks as though Index could be taking the Persona team and giving them their own studio. A trademark for “P Studio” and a logo was discovered by Siliconera in Japan’s trademark database.
Index filed the trademark for use with video games and online games so we can rule out their animation department.
Update: Siliconera reader, Combo, points out that the P Studio logo is on the back of the Persona 4: Arena box. That confirms that the studio is indeed connected to the Persona games and that it’s been around for a while now.
http://www.siliconera.com/2013/01/02...and-3ds-games/Shuuhou Imai, director of the Tokyo Majin Gakuen series of games, is working on titles for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS and smartphones, he reveals in a blog post.
These projects are entirely new games, Imai says, that are unrelated to the Tokyo Majin Gakuen series, and will start to see release this year.
What’s Tokyo Majin Gakuen? It’s a series of role-playing games that started out on the PSOne, and follows a group of high school students that battle demons. The series later continued on the Nintendo DS and PSP.
