What are "herorric abilities"? This one wasn't really anywhere near my radar, but it is now. Some of the larger monsters look fun, and the rest definitely piques my interest.

Sounds like they mean Fighter/Rogue's abilities or switch to the flame demon for Pyromancer.

    KickStarter hacked, change your password
On Wednesday night, law enforcement officials contacted Kickstarter and alerted us that hackers had sought and gained unauthorized access to some of our customers' data. Upon learning this, we immediately closed the security breach and began strengthening security measures throughout the Kickstarter system.

No credit card data of any kind was accessed by hackers. There is no evidence of unauthorized activity of any kind on your account.

While no credit card data was accessed, some information about our customers was. Accessed information included usernames, email addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and encrypted passwords. Actual passwords were not revealed, however it is possible for a malicious person with enough computing power to guess and crack an encrypted password, particularly a weak or obvious one.

As a precaution, we strongly recommend that you change the password of your Kickstarter account, and other accounts where you use this password.

To change your password, log in to your account at Kickstarter.com and look for the banner at the top of the page to create a new, secure password. We recommend you do the same on other sites where you use this password. For additional help with password security, we recommend tools like 1Password and LastPass.

We’re incredibly sorry that this happened. We set a very high bar for how we serve our community, and this incident is frustrating and upsetting. We have since improved our security procedures and systems in numerous ways, and we will continue to do so in the weeks and months to come. We are working closely with law enforcement, and we are doing everything in our power to prevent this from happening again.

Kickstarter is a vibrant community like no other, and we can’t thank you enough for being a part of it. Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. You can reach us at [email protected].

    Thank you,

    Yancey Strickler
    Kickstarter CEO

Fairy Fencer F coming to NA & EU sometime in 2014
    (PS3)
NIS America is bringing Fairy Fencer F to North America and Europe via retail and digital channels in 2014, the company announced.

The Compile Heart-developed turn-based RPG features concept art from Yoshitaka Amano, character art from Tsunako, and music from Nobuo Uematsu, each known for their work on the Final Fantasy series.

The game will feature audio in both Japanese and English.

    Find a story blurb below.
Long ago, a dreadful war was fought between the Goddess and the Vile God. Because they were equally matched, they both created a vast number of special weapons imbued with their godly energy, each containing the life force of a fairy. Armed with these weapons, the deities continued their conflict until they finally sealed each other away into the great unknown. A long time has passed since this ancient conflict, and the weapons created by the Goddess and the Vile God have since been scattered across the world. These weapons—now known as “Furies”—are highly sought after by warriors who call themselves “Fencers”. It is said that whoever collects a Fury will be granted one wish. When a young man named Fang decides to rashly pull a Fury from a stone, he inadvertently becomes a Fencer himself, forever altering the course of his destiny.

Rumor: A new Dino Crisis to be revealed later this year
Capcom is working on a reboot of Dino Crisis to be announced later this year, according to a rumor in the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine UK.

The rumor contradicts an earlier statement from Resident Evil: Revelations producer Masachika Kawata.

Asked if Capcom is likely to revive the Dino Crisis or Onimusha series, he said, “Capcom has obviously never shied away from bringing back our older IPs to new generations, but I do think it’s more important for us to focus on creating new IP as we move forward.”

The dinosaur-based survival horror game series first launched for the original PlayStation in 1999. It spawned two sequels—the latest released on the original Xbox in 2003—and a PlayStation 2 first-person shooter spin-off.

    forma.8
    (PC/Mac/Linux/PS4/WiiU/Vita/iOS)
Italian indie studio MixedBag is proud to reveal that his long in the work action adventure forma.8 is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, iOS, PC, Mac and Linux by the end of the year.

forma.8 is MixedBag’s own take on the classic metroidvania formula, a project started over two years ago as a little gameplay concept centered on an experimental control system for touch devices that evolved in an adventure of epic scale.
It’s the kind of game that, as a two-person indie developer, anyone tells you ‘hey, don’t start with something big like this!’... err...

In a distant future, the small exploration probe forma.8 is stranded alone on the surface of an alien planet. He got parted away from his companions by an accidental event and has a life or death mission to accomplish: he needs to find and recover a powerful energy source deep under the surface before it’s too late. Ancient civilisations, great perils and dystopian visions awaits him, and not everything is as it seems...

Floating gracefully in mid air, with a control system that aims to give the player a true sense of flying, our little hero forma.8 starts with no powers, no weapons and no hints of what to do and where to go: it’s up to the player to explore the planet, deal with its often hostile inhabitants, and slowly uncover the story.
There’s no verbal communication in the game, everything is conveyed to the player only with images and sounds.

A unique mix of hand drawn vector graphics and 3d elements brings the world of forma.8 to life with a clean and vibrant look, while the fully physics based interaction with the environment and the planet weird fauna offers unexpected twists to the gameplay.

    Features

    • An expansive world to explore
    • An intriguing and mysterious story
    • Action!
    • Puzzles!
    • Dystopian visions!
    • Combat!
    • Secrets to uncover
    • Lots of enemies
    • Lots of BIG enemies
    • Some more B I G G E R enemies
    • ...and all the power-ups you need to take care of them and to avoid all the nasty stuff you'll face on the remote, alien planet
    • 60 frames per second super fluid action

forma.8 will be playable at the EGX Rezzed in Birmingham, march 28-30, as part of the Leftfield Collection. A Steam Greenlight for forma.8 is now online

Mauro Fanelli, confounder of MixedBag: “I’m so excited to finally reveal forma.8 for consoles, mobile, tablets and computers. I think it’s amazing that the first game announced for a next-generation console from an italian team is an indie project made by an indie team. It wouldn’t have been possible just a few years ago. A massive thanks to Sony and Nintendo for the support, and to Unity for making it possible”.

    Pavilion
    (PS4/Vita)
During Tokyo Game Show last year, we (Henrik and Rickard), together with Sony Japan, announced that Pavilion would be coming to PS4 and PS Vita in 2014. Still, most people might not have heard that much about Pavilion, so we felt it was time to shed some light on the game.

“Pavilion, the fourth-person puzzling adventure from Visiontrick Media, throws you directly into its mysterious world without any text tutorials or beginning explanations. It is a puzzle game portrayed through exploration and audio-visual imagery. By interacting and observing you gradually, bit by bit, learn things about both the puzzling gameplay and the world itself.”

Let’s talk a little bit about the term “fourth-person,” which is something we’ve used over the past year to describe the way you interact with the main character. Basically, the character is not your avatar and you are not in control of him. Instead, you have to find different ways — mostly through environmental interaction — to guide, influence or even force him to explore and fulfill the purpose of the world. This indirect control is what we refer to when we say fourth-person.

This method of control has resulted in some interesting reactions. Some people feel it’s just a buzzword, while others are rather intrigued by it. In the end, we’re happy to see people giving it a thought and talking about it.

Like many other games, Pavilion will be an experience best played without knowing too much about what lies ahead — so we’re not going to give away too much. However, we’ll be posting more details about the game here on PlayStation.Blog in the coming months. Until then, you can follow our Twitter feed or Facebook page for more daily updates. Thanks for your time, and see you on PS4 and PS Vita later this year!

Independent video game developer Finish Line Games announced today that it is bringing the chaotic, cartoon-inspired vehicle combat title, Cel Damage HD, to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 computer entertainment systems and the PlayStation Vita handheld entertainment system this spring. As a Cross-Buy title, Cel Damage HD will offer single-purchase, multi-platform support, and once purchased can be downloaded for all systems. Cel Damage HD will be shown in private meetings at this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month, but prospective drivers can get more information about the game now by visiting the official site and by liking the game on Facebook.

A renewal of the timeless classic Cel Damage, the “HD” version is a fast-paced vehicle combat game where the world’s toughest cartoon drivers get behind the wheel of outlandish cars and battle each other in order to gain fame on the most popular cartoon demolition derby show on TV. With six characters to choose from, combatants smash, shoot and slice enemies into oblivion using an array of destructive armaments for personal glory. With vibrant cel-shaded art, Cel Damage HD transports players into a real-life cartoon environment, and allows them to explore 13 arena-style levels with 10 playable cars and more than 30 weapon power-ups.

“As longtime developers we’ve always enjoyed games that meld the realm of video games with other, similar forms of entertainment,” said Daniel Posner, co-founder of Finish Line Games. “With Cel Damage HD, we’re bringing back one of our favorite mash-ups of classic vehicle combat games and cartoon animation to give players the distinct experience of playing as if they are in a cartoon. We are excited to see how modern day fans react to this merging of mediums and we’re thrilled to be giving players Cross-Buy support to allow them to play on their preferred system.”

    Product Description

Cel Damage HD, a re-release of the classic, fast-paced vehicle combat game Cel Damage, is a mix of demolition derby’s intense carnage and race car finesse all bundled into a zany cartoon universe. The game has players take control of the world’s wackiest cartoon drivers as they battle each other with outlandish, weaponized cars in order to gain fame on the most popular cartoon demolition derby show on TV. With 10 characters to choose from, combatants will smash, shoot and slice enemies into oblivion using more than 30 over-the-top weapons.

Featuring the only four-person split-screen multiplayer on the PlayStation 4, Cel Damage HD allows players to compete in one of three challenging game modes, where they must out-maneuver, out-gun and outlast their opponents to either earn smack points or prevent others from achieving their objectives. With vibrant cel-shaded cartoon art, drivers will explore 12 interactive worlds filled with surprises around every corner.

    Key Features

Multiplayer Done The Right Way – It may take two to tango, but it takes a four-person split-screen to play multiplayer the way it’s meant to be played, which Cel Damage HD brings in a big way as the only game on PlayStation 4 offering such an experience. Only with four-player split-screen can drivers undergo the true chaos of fast-paced cartoon combat, while simultaneously giving their friends a verbal smackdown!

The Toughest Toons Around – Cel Damage HD features six raucous characters to choose from at the start, including the mischievous anime demon Violet, the demented devil Sinder, the ex-construction worker B.T. Bruno, the gangster duck Fowl Mouth, the black-hearted Dominque Trix, and the nerdy Flemming. With increasing victories, drivers will unlock additional characters, including a slew of devious bosses.

A Bevy of Wild Game Modes – To prove their star worthiness, motorists must master three different game modes; Smack Attack, where players attack other racers to gain a certain number of points first; Gate Relay, in which players race to checkpoints; and Flag Rally, which has combatants speed past each other to collect flags.

An Intense Cartoon Universe – Cel Damage HD features a frantic cartoon universe with a state-of-the-art cartoon physics engine, providing players with highly dangerous and interactive environments. While drivers initiate attacks on enemies and maneuver to avoid damage to their vehicles, they can interact freely with set gag pieces and perform jaw-dropping stunts.

You, as El Presidente, will first take control of the infamous island of Tropico during early colonial times and then guide it through the centuries as the world changes and moves ever forward. You must tackle the changing needs of your people, as well as opposing governments and factions, and thus lay the foundations for your own dynasty. As you move through your years in office you can promote members of your extended family on the island to positions of power: such as ambassador, commanding general or even Supreme Ruler, to ensure your legacy thrives through the eras.

As well as a wealth of other new features, including advanced trading mechanics, technology, scientific research trees and island exploration, Tropico 5 will add cooperative and competitive multiplayer for up to four players for the first time in the series’ history! Viva El Presidente!

Team17 has lifted the lid on a brand new IP, Develop can reveal. The Worms developer is currently working on a game entitled Flockers.

The firm announced last year that it hasn't created a new IP for more than a decade and that it is investing heavily in it now.

The new franchise was revealed by Team17 MD Debbie Bestwick during today’s PlayStation Open Day in Royal Leamington Spa. It will be officially announced next week.

"This is the most important game we've worked on in over a decade," she said.

Team17 has repositioned itself in recent years as a digital publisher, but this move reiterates that it is still dedicated to games development – and not just on more iterations of Worms.

Bestwick didn’t offer any more information on the new IP but judging by the logo, we’re guessing Steampunk and Team17’s love of dangerous sheep are both central to the brand.

Our final PlayStation game announcement of the month is something I’ve wanted to talk about for a really long time. I’m now very happy to be able to tell you about our plans to bring the critically acclaimed puzzle-platformer, The Swapper, to PS3, PS4 and PS Vita this year.

The Swapper was released in 2013 on PC, and has had some amazing press coverage. It won numerous awards in the indie gaming scene for its story, graphics and puzzle design. We’re very lucky to be working with original developer Olli Harjola to bring the game to PlayStation formats, and the game is already looking beautiful on our PlayStation systems here at Curve towers, so we think you’re in for a real treat.

The Swapper is set on Theseus, a damaged space station and research facility. It’s a claustrophobic, dark, and atmospheric environment, but it’s also very unique in style — there’s no blocky pixel art and digital textures in this game, but instead handcrafted art and clay models designed by the original developers.

These real world props make up the many different environments in the game and provide The Swapper with an art style that feels realistic and is dripping with tons of detail. This is a game where the environment tells a story every bit as much as the dialogue in the game, so we’ve been working very hard at Curve to make sure each version we make looks and sounds perfect.

As for the game itself, it’s your job to search for a way off Theseus station, a (mostly) abandoned, self-sustaining outpost in deep space. I won’t spoil the plot here, but The Swapper has some themes and stories every bit as dark as the games environment, and it’s very satisfying to play through. To aid your navigation in the station, you’re able to create up to four clones of yourself and can switch between them at will in order to solve a huge variety of clever puzzles.

We’ll be talking about the game in a bit more depth over the next few months, but we should be releasing The Swapper in late May this year, so if you’re into puzzle games, science-fiction, or just want to try something really unique, keep an eye out for this one!

    Outlast: Whistleblower DLC
    (PC/PS4)
    Hello Gamers,

The whole team here at Red Barrels is pleased to reveal that our first DLC, Outlast: Whistleblower, will be released this April for PC and PS4!

Whistleblower will let you play as Waylon Park, a software engineer under contract with Murkoff and the man who emailed journalists around the world - including Miles - at the beginning of Outlast. Spending a couple of weeks at Mount Massive, during which he was unable to even talk to his wife and son in Boulder thanks to strict security protocols, Weylon developed a deep-seated distrust of the profit-motivated scientists and doctors leading dangerous and irresponsible experiments on their patients. Identifying with those poor souls fueled Weylon's anger, and set the stage for his unmasking of Mount Massive's rotten core.

Although Whistleblower tells the story that led to Outlast, it will actually stretch past the events of the first game to show the final chapter in Mount Massive Asylum's story.

See you in the asylum - The RB team.
