If you haven't tried the others, I'd definitely look into Ys: The Oath in Felghana and Ys Origin on Steam.
Anyway...
http://www.vg247.com/2015/04/17/chip...ge-2-pc-steam/Chip’s Challenge and unreleased sequel Chip’s Challenge 2 arrive on Steam next month
After the release of the first game, Sommerville spent two years developing the sequel, only to find the trademark had been sold. The trademark’s new owners wanted him to fund the publishing, which he couldn’t afford resulting in Chip’s Challenge 2 being put on the shelf.
“When I couldn’t release Chip’s Challenge 2, it hit me really hard. Not only had I spent two years perfecting it, I also felt I’d let down the fans too.” Chuck Sommerville said in the press release. “I generally thought the only way Chip’s Challenge 2 was ever going to see the light of day was by having my wife leak it on the internet upon my death.”
Now, two decades later and five years worth of negotiation with the trademark owners, Chip’s Challenge 2 will be released on Steam in its original form alongside its predecessor.
Trading Cards and Steam Workshop are being added to the original code along with game saves instead instead of “the old code system.”
Originally released for Atari’s Lynx hand-held system, Chip’s Challenge was eventually ported other formats such as DOS, Windows, Amiga, Commodore 64 and the ZX Spectrum.
Chip’s Challenge and Chip’s Challenge 2 will be available on Steam for PC May 29 for $1.99 and $4.99, respectively.
The Chip’s Challenge 2: Editor as DLC can also be purchased for $2.99.
Wow, mind blown. Going to wait for summer sale and buy whole collection.
I haven't looked much into it, but I don't care too much since as long as I get to hack and slash the shit out of everything and listen to the kick ass OST (Mighty Obstacle and Ernst = <3 <3 <3 <3), I'll be fine.
Go for it. They're almost always available for sale during Summer/Christmas
Ys VI OST is definitely the most varied and unique of the bunch. Windslash steps is a favorite of mine along with, the ones you mentioned and Mountain Zone, fucking hated that part of the game though omfg the amount of enemies and flying objects wanting to kill you.
VI is the weakest of the series, I think.
Edit: Story and gameplay. Music is great in all of them.
Edit edit: Ys I coming to mobile: link
