Low FPS unless restart PC and Random Games crash

Everytime my friend launches a game TERA it starts off with low FPS and she has to restart her PC to get the game to have decent FPS. She has a pretty ok computer in terms of specs and i'm wondering if its just the cache from the cpu not properly being dumped or so.

Also sometimes programs will randomly crash as well as well but I'm wondering why she has to keep restarting her pc everytime she wants to play TERA or she'll have low FPS.

    her PC Specs
    CPU: Intel Core I3-2120
    GPU: EVGA GTX 560
    MOBO: ASUS P8Z68 LX
RAM: 8 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 mhz

Figure HDD and PSU isn't worth listing as its probably not relevant <_<

Appreciate any help I can get as to diagnosing what the exact issue is

    thanks in advance ^^

Is hitching stuttering problems (IE screen freezes for a bit then its like she's "ported") because if so then yes

Only happens in TERA though which may be because its more graphic intense she's only played audio surf and mass effect outside of that. Well it happens Guild Wars 2 as well and had a similar issue from time to time but its in beta etc etc.

    Is there an easy fix?

I actually purchased an EVGA GTX560 card recently. In reading around about it, I read that the latest WHQL drivers (301.42) were causing issues similar to what you're describing. Maybe try the latest beta drivers (304.84)? I'm on them now and they seem alright.

Where do you download the beta drivers from? Normally I go here to get drivers which is where I sent her drivers are 301.42
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-wi...ql-driver.html

    Would appreciate it thanks!

    Directly from EVGA's website:

    http://www.evga.com/support/download/default.aspx
Select Family/OS and it should be the first one on the list.

well she's giving that a shot we'll test it now now wont be able to figure out the restart fps issue but we'll be able to see if the stuttering slows down

I had a similar problem like this, figured out the only possible fix was to go into Nvidia control panel and change this setting from Adaptive to prefer max performance, haven't had a single issue since, seeing as she is using evga, I'd pick up evga precision and keep that constantly running in the background with the fan set to auto scale to temp, cause idle your card will run around 63C with stock settings that will have the fan running at about 40% total speed at that temp, where as with evga precision it will make the fan run up to 50 -60% at that temp and then scale down once the temp is at a more normal area like 30-40C.
