"Hauppauge HD PVR" is the one I remember that TS|Min uses.
BMI shuttle is extremely finicky on what hardware it works with, and the company who makes it is shitty about supporting it. I think the old Hauppage card may have the same issue as the old Aver card where the HDMI channel doesn't play nice with certain things but the component is fine...this is less of an issue than it seems though, since if you're doing tournaments and not just hinge streaming you'll need to do something for PS3 HDCP compliance, the simplest/cheapest fix being HDMI > component conversion.
I personally still use the old $99 Aver C027 card and it does everything I need, you've seen the quality of my captures(if you haven't seen anything of mine recently check the archive on twitch.tv/medina4life and look at the Chicago 4 Ultimate videos, that was all done on my setup). I hear a lot of positive stuff about their newer HD GameCaster cards as well.
I'm at work right now, but if you want to chat on aim or something later I can run down my full tournament setup for you.
Sure. Message me on aim when you get some free time.
aim = itsvandole
Also, I'm part of a team that's hosting a pretty great tournament on Sept 22. It's not even september yet and we have 74 confirmed guests. At our last tournament we had 97 people with only 50 confirms so it looks like we got a little more popular so far.
Our venue will be in Flowood, MS and it's a GREAT building that allows you to bring your own alcohol and consume it after 5 pm
If you're in the south and would love to come to our awesome tournament... Please do. Just be known we have some pretty good players coming.
Marvel: gary with glasses, ranmasama(maybe?), hyperdrive x
AE: Happy Medicine
mk9: AE | Grolarbears(my teammate that 3-1'd justin wong this past weekend and nearly beat him in grand finals 3-2)
skullgirls: Trumpet(4th at evo)
And some others. Gonna be a good time.

Pretty beastly team other than CJ Showstopper and Honzo Gonzo.
And Grimey, lol.
I don't know how Cj ShowStopper gets on any team, rofl.
CJ is probably the team's water boy/towel fetcher. Can't wait for him to get bopped by Andre.
Yeah, that's right. I'm putting money on the guy that regularly drops combos (although I can't believe he almost got away with doing the full Magneto TAC infinite at SJ).
Champ v. Chris G FT15 confirmed for Season's Beatings. Also, Yipes may have inspired Sanford to come back and give Marvel 3 another go.
CJ is better than just about everyone on that team minus F. Champ, his mentor & X-Ray. Niggas better not sleep on him.
Drew Grimey however, was a retarded pick. Chrisis should and would have been a superior pick on that team instead with a similar team of Viper/Strider. Honzo is a troll, but he's ok. Same with K Beast.
EDIT: Scun should have also been on the team, Kappa.
drew grimey gonna punch you guys in the face
Dios X needs to be on SoCal team. Want the runback so hard.
Actually I can see team SoCal being:
Fanatiq
Dios X
Justin Wong
Infrit
LLND
Combofiend
Viscant
Alex Valle
Sorry Sho. You my nig, but I have to call bullshit on this. CJ has a habit of talking his game up way too hard, only to get smoked. I've seen it on the occasions where I've erred enough to tune into FGTV. I've seen it at majors. He'll talk himself up, get bodied, then make a bunch of excuses why he failed. Then a couple of seconds later, he'll start talking himself up again.
I admire the confidence and am jealous that he has a hyperbolic time chamber that allows him to participate (nobody would deny being able to train at the FGTV house for SF or Marvel). That doesn't excuse the fact that he needs to shut the fuck up and prove himself before people will start taking him seriously. He's up against Andre in a long set at SB for a reason.
The one thing I really am interested about AfterShock is the no import rule, which means SoCal will not have Justin. I wonder if the same rule is in effect for KoF. That may mean team SoCal may not have Bala and Romance.
I'll agree with you for now on CJ, that's cool. I've seen him play lesser names though; he's getting up there pretty quickly.
Oh snap, no imports!? This will make for an interesting tournament then. Might have to go to this one.
you guys just dont understand the genius that is CJ showstopper
That's some hipster level bullshit right there.
