My main problem with it was that the transitions were just so jarring. You'd have absolutely no idea whether the current game was still being streamed, moved to a different stream, or this was the mystery games stream time.
Well, if the tournament holders want to prevent that from happening, perhaps they should schedule events for 8 a.m.? I mean, I don't care either way, but I can see the need to make sure everything is filled in on time, and the viewpoint that forcing people to restrict their social time to get up at the crack of dawn (in vacation standards) is strange. Although, when you consider that many players are sponsored and playing for a pay check, it certainly doesn't seem strange to report for "work" at 8 a.m. or later.
Yes, I am saying that a "Major" like UFGT should not be forcing people to wakeup at 8AM. If other tourneys which are much bigger can do without it, so can they. UFGT also had 3 days to get it done where most tourneys only have 2 days with more people.
Keits sucks.
Here is a better example:
Lets say I am Latif. Razer tells me, "Latif, you can only go to either CEO or UFGT in 2014 before EVO, pick one so we can buy the tickets!". Why on Earth would I pick going to UFGT over CEO when I know Jebailey will have the major game pools, especially on Sunday, start around noon at the earliest. This way, I get to go to the tournament AND go hangout with my friends I rarely see on Saturday night! Keits is forcing them to reign it in or go to sleep early if they don't want to feel like dick at 8AM when they wakeup the next morning.
This IS the situation for many sponsored players, and this WILL ruin UFGT over the long run if it continues next year.
Either way it's going to cut into that partying time...on Saturday the latest thing running was the MvC3 character auction(these are pretty popular), which got out around 11-11:30, the day had begun at 10. Back up pools til noon, and the matches don't end until past 1am, you get the same amount of time to party because you can't start until nearly 2, it all stays relative.
Yes you technically get to stay up later, but that doesn't give you more time, it just shifts the hours.
Also, there were finals of games like KoF and P4 being streamed on the 2nd stream while Keits was "filling time" with mystery game garbage. I get it, the mystery game thing looks fun for the people there. Put that shit on the 2nd stream, not actual finals of games that people are good at. I hate P4, but that final was awesome. I'm sure all 6 people watching the 2nd stream got real hype.
Wanting time to party and such is fine... if you want to remain poverty. If you want real money in fighting games, you need to act like it first before people with money will get interested. I just think if the community is fighting to get sponsorships and trying to make FGC a real esport, you shouldn't use stupid excuses like wanting to get drunk/high the night before your tournament top 8. So remember that the next time you complain about lack of pot bonuses and sponsorships and poverty wages for top 8 players.
lol Octo thanks for getting me up on EHubs
I'll be interviewing ranmasama this weekend at a tournament so if anyone has questions lemme know.
In seriousness though Dole I'd like to know his thoughts on how his team matches up against MorriDoom, his match against Chris was played pretty tight.
Sounds to me like this shit was just straight to Keits rofl:
Alex Valle: TO tip: If you want to make change, do it for a better scene. Avoid personal grudges, network with as many ppl as you can, and be positive.
Ask him how often he practices and goes to locals etc..
Finally back from NYC. So turns out that cammy cosplayer gives some good ass head.
Re: Still restricts partying time. Let's be real, REAL partying doesn't start until AT LEAST 11pm regardless. Later pools gives more time to party. Oh, and by the way, pools were over for ECT at 8pm, like I said. GG Keits. If you can't find a place to party at that's not the hotel room (this is a great place to party) then the location of your venue probably ain't got shit else to do around it anyways that doesn't require committing day time to (which you will be spending at the venue). IE driving however far it is to get to the main parts of chi town.
