EVO 2013: Who's banned for a week next?

i'm betting on PS4 requiring new sticks. would be badass if they didn't, but it seems unlikely.

madcatz/hori/etc. have probably all been lobbying hard for keeping the old sticks incompatible so they can sell more, haha.

while we're on the topic, here's a question i haven't seen asked anywhere: do you need permission from microsoft to resell your xbone peripherals too? heh.

You mean like the console or the kinect? Or you mean like 3rd party shit like TEs and such? Don't think you can put a DRM or whatever its called on hardware.

yeah i meant controllers and such. if they can tie a disc to a system, it seems to me it would be pretty trivial to do the same with a piece of hardware. not that i think MS is actually crazy enough to do something that extreme (at least at this point), but i feel like it's still a valid question given their policy decisions.

Thats the thing, they aren't tying a disc to it, they are tying the digital media on the disc to it. You can give the disc to whoever you want, but the media on the disc isn't necessarily there. DRM stands for digital rights management.

Killer Instinct is a day-one digital-only release on Xbox One, and features -- get this -- one character. Jago is free to play on launch day. Everyone else -- unspecified returning characters as well as original fighters -- will cost money. Price is to-be-determined (of course).

Is this the start of a new trend? With Xbox Live Arcade vanishing into the greater Games Marketplace, perhaps free-to-play is the new trial version, and you'll nickel and dime your way to a more complete version. Hopefully trials of some sort will still mandated so players can try out everything as it hits Xbox Live.

@Liroy - I never, ever, once said that XB1 would be "the FGC" platform. I said that KI would be at tournaments, and it will. Your ignorance is starting to amaze me. No wonder they ban you all the time.

@PS4 hardware - I am sure MadCatz/Hori/etc want them to require new ports so they can actually sell more product. It would be cool to use my old Ps3 sticks for something other than EVO.

@KI Digital download prices - So the game will cost around $30 and if you buy all the characters it will cost you probably around $55-65. The price of any game. Your point? Ryan Hart and other FGC people are already making posts that the game is fucking awesome.

My point is that when a FG's pricing structure is the same as an Android/iOS nickel-and-dime game, it's probably going to be very, very bad.

And yeah there is no way MC/Hori want current-gen controllers to be compatible with next-gen systems.

I'll take the opinion of pro players at the game floor playing it over someone who thinks Skullgirls is a quality game lol.

Skullgirls is shit, and KI will probably be shit after a month, so fuck it. SF 5 or CVS3 please.

This is the FG equivalent of All The Bravest, my opinions on other games doesn't negate that this is an obvious nostalgia-driven cash grab coming from a development studio known for making awful games.

From spending 2 weeks with the dude, I can assure you nothing would get done. He would just be drunk lol. That guy is the man though. He is much more like an American player than a Japanese one. He literally walked in Kaiken arcade (best CVS spot on the planet), and said out loud that none of the games were worth playing because the opponents cannot touch him lolol.

Reminds me of this old CvS2 combo video he made about 10 years ago. Even then he was just like, "Fuck it, I'll cut to another combo before this one is done. You know I finished it with some dope shit."
