No one is going to beat his set ups easily, as annoying as it is. Shenanigan's or not, if it works, it works... keep doing it until it is countered.

I honestly don't think you can't say he's the best. Name a single person who is better? He has multiple teams. Not just two (like champ and yipes), and he has one of the strongest combination of characters in the game. He's consistently top 3 in any tourny, mostly winning them. He made a single error at evo or he most likely woulda been the winner. Chrisg beat chrisg, not Fchamp. Now, you say it was countered? Yet he beat both of those counter teams in large sets, and convincingly so. Sanford said that the best person at mvc3 is the person that has multiple teams to counter others, and I'm inclined to agree. Nobody is beating Chrisg currently. His morrigan lockdown is fucking ridiculous.

I'm not posting that shit to troll or count someone as "the best." There is no best player. Today's shenanigan's might not mean shit tomorrow. This is Marvel, it happens in this game. However, I will say he is [one of] the most consistent and solid with his gameplan so far. If you had said that only, cool, that much is certain. Welt should know. I told him the same thing at EVO-- I said Chris G is the most solid and consistent right now, however I never called him "the best" because I simply don't believe that term exists for this game where so much broken shit can be found out in a short span.

Regardless, I have zero hate for Chris G, despite always making fun of him getting mad when he loses at clutch moments. I've been saying he's this generation's Justin Wong since forever and he pretty much has been proving it for the last year and a half up to yesterday.

There are plenty of counters to Doom/Morrigan tech. It's just that no one is exploring them fully (all the better for Chris G to keep his win streak going). Magneto is a counter, Strange with meter is a counter. Storm is a counter. Dormammu is a counter.

Leroy, you should really take Deejay's advice and stop being a stream monster, and instead level up. You'll start to see things differently as you play and learn from others instead of doing this armchair warrior/theorist shit. And since you mentioned Sanford, remember the other thing Sanford mentioned as well-- people need to be able to adapt (at the expense of completely change up their line up) and counter pick Chris G to win. That and/or learn new technology to counter the components of his team.

Deejay said it plainly a page back, but it's in the same line with what Sanford said in the past:

Chris G is just a good player. He's top 5 in the world right now. He can play any character in the game and make people look bad. That doesn't mean he's using the best tech though.

I disagree with there not being a best. There's always a best, it just changes frequently especially in a game like marvel, however Chrisg has been far too consistent in such a random game to not be considered the best -- right now.

As far as the stream monster thing: You're right about playing the game and learning more about it than you would, but I just don't have any time to do any of that right now. I miss every WNF/The Runback/Big Two, and then skim through the videos the next day while I'm at work to see if anything interesting happened. Just happened to actually be free to watch the tourny (even though I missed most of it besides like top 8 AE, chrisg money matches, and top 4 umvc3). I'm busy pretty much everyday from 9am-10pm (Class, work, gym, then hanging with friends), and spend the rest of my time either playing dark souls or chilling with some chick among random things my friends and I do. Weekends have been work, partying and football.

It's also different if you're arguing if he's the best ever (I don't think anybody is saying this), or just that if you do a ranking of the players, he'd be #1 right now (at least he is in my book).

Also, I don't think you can say he's winning because of Morri-Doom, because he's perfectly capable of beating most people with other teams, it's just that Morri-Doom gives him the best chance to win most of the time. It doesn't matter that people may counter him better in the future, because we're not predicting anything. Just that right now he's #1.

Have to agree with that, yes technology changes fast and often in that game, but if I had to put money on any single player as of right now he'd be the only logical choice.

The only person I would consider is Justin Wong if we're talking a FT10 against Chris G. But no other person has the understanding, foresight, execution, and strategy building that Chris G has. Like I said, Wong could easily rival him if he threw out his whole 'anti top tier' idea, but other than that ChrisG is as solid as anyone.

I would like to say yes, but until proven otherwise.... let's not pretend justin wong has been his best lately, in any game. I mean, he went to hyperbolic fat chamber for evo and didn't make it to top 8 in any game. Just saying, it's not like he's been dominant.

I'm pretty sure Wong has earned the benefit of the doubt. He won CEO 2 weeks before EVO. Just because he lost to the top 2% of players doesn't mean he's all of a sudden fallen off.
