FFS, he was eliminated by Kbrad in AE at season's beatings. Has infiltration fallen off for losing to him too? You're putting way too much stock into recent tournament results. Even champ admitted that once a major gets to top 8, it's basically just a draw of matchups. Some people get lucky and others don't.

Honestly I think at this point Justin shows up just for income/fun. He spent enough time as the undisputed best in the universe, I think he's at the phase where he'd rather mess around and see what he can do with the characters he wants than math out the most effective team for winning tournaments.

I would like to say yes, but until proven otherwise.... let's not pretend justin wong has been his best lately, in any game. I mean, he went to hyperbolic fat chamber for evo and didn't make it to top 8 in any game. Just saying, it's not like he's been dominant.

He made top 8 at EVO in Marvel...thats 50% of the games he attempted to practice for.

He also took out Kazunoku and MOV in AE.

He showed up to CEO, decided, "Hey I want that gold belt" and beat Momochi 12-0.

Dude is the #1 overall player in the FGC.

I went to some shitty tournament in Boston over the weekend. The TO tried to run every game ever made (4 Smash Bros tournaments? WWE? Madden? NBA2k13?). There were only a couple positives, including getting drunk and asking people what they play as they walked into the hotel. Getting answers like, "If I tell you, you'll just be really mad." from a Smash Bros. player made my night. Also, pulling down a few hundred bucks in NBA Jam money matches against the retarded hobos that came to play NBA2K13 made not waking up in time to enter KoF worthwhile.

Another major problem with Chris G's dominance is the fact that no one is taking his team seriously still. And by "seriously," I mean no one is hitting the lab hardcore to break down his team and figure out solid ways to beat him.

The East Coast is (for the most) part still lazy, and allows for themselves to get swept by him usually despite being able to play him on a more consistent basis. The Midwest and West Coast have region specific problems that they focus on instead. Midwest worries about Zero [May Cry]. West Coast worries about Spencers & Vergils. However, not many are preparing well for Chris G's team, which is what makes his dominance interesting and fascinating to watch. As easy as his Morrigan/Doom team looks to execute, it's not easy at all to perform as well, meaning there won't be many players that play on the same level as him as well so as to see what Chris G sees.

When the game was all about Dark Phoenix XF3, it was a threat to everyone across the globe, so it was getting figured out. At least so far, now isn't the case with a serious Morrigan/Doom combo.

Sorry, but I don't agree. Chris g has the best fundamental play in UMVC3 with any character. He's not the best spencer, the best doom, the best wesker, akuma or morrigan, but he understands the mechanics behind the gameplay better than anybody else. Hence why he rarely gets thrown or put into bad situations. He's already picked apart everyone else's team, and figured out counters to them

Not once did I put his fundamentals into question. I just like singular characters, I still believe there is no "best player." I totally agree that his fundamentals are definitely top notch, but you can say the same thing about Fanatiq, Justin Wong, Ryan Hart, Marlin Pie and more (if we are just talking about fundamentals).

And he really didn't "figure out" anything by playing Morrigan/Doom, the fly/unfly spam fireball + keepaway Morrigan tech was known since early vanilla. He took the general idea from Dieminion, added Hidden Missiles, and ran with it. Ironically down the line he saw it as the most solid gameplan vs most teams.

Before that Chris G was in the largest character crisis ever, despite still being a solid player.

Regardless of what I think, Morrigan/Doom at Chris G's level is just plain hard to beat (but not impossible).

Well, even if MarlinPie never blocks to save his life, he has his fundamentals down, lol. He also "understands the game" intricately as Slott mentioned, thus leading to much of his self made Doom/Viper tech he's made up over the last few months. Also for a person that plays Viper, his spacing with her is immaculate, considering she's high execution.

Nova/????/Ammy is pretty solid both ways, lol.

Joking s Joku about that part, lol. I think nova/skrull/ammy it is then because doom is boring to me. He provides some ok mixups and good damage with meters unlike someone like x23 (for is unblockable set up)

Despite all of this talk, one thing is for sure - for being the Mecca of Marvel, AE stole the show (and continues to prove why it will always be the last game at EVO).

KOF was done as soon as Lacid knocked out Bala. Everyone got sick of Morri/Doom in Marvel.

Also agree with a lot of what is being said about Morri/Doom (how it started/expanded, how no one has bothered to break it down yet). It is a solid gameplan thus far. I'm just very surprised that it continues to fly under the radar both in terms of usage and counterpicks. It's not FOTM yet, nor is anyone willing to actually sit back in the lab and go, "This is how I beat that shit."

Thing is, Chris already sort of hinted at how to beat Morrigan. Doom is the problem.
