    Roaches. Roaches everywhere!

So, I have a roach problem. I'm done with my grinding on my MMO at 2 oclock in the morning and come into my kitchen for some water, turn on the light, and BAM!!! ROACHES! FUCKING HATE ROACHES. I've never had to deal with these little bastards until I've moved into a new place a few months ago. At first, it was reasonable. Squishing a few here, and a few there. Then they started coming in droves.

I'm getting sick of it, and decided I need to get rid of the little pest. So I bought some roach bombs from Home Depot and they died, but came back. I bought a few more, and the same thing. I looked into hiring an exterminator but they want about $50-$70 monthly and I can't afford that! So I come to you BG, the savior of my kitchen to help me rid of these unwanted guest.

I did a quick google/amazon search and came up with these fine products.

What do you guys think? Any of you have gone through a similar experience? If you did, and didn't hire an exterminator, how did you handle it?

I also cannot throw any amount of water bottles as they attract the little fuckers.

^ Seriously that. I had roaches only once. I just got into the lease. I demanded they take care of it or I would break the lease. Left to stay with a friends for the week while they did. I don't mind just about anything else in this world, blood, guts, spiders, puke, whatever.... But roaches, fruit flys, and ants? Nuke from orbit please

I had some demon roaches. You'd bomb the house and they'd just shed their exoskeletons and you'd have a bunch of white/clear roaches running around. Any time I'd have a guest come over I'd set a chair in the middle of the living room then spray Raid round it in a circle.

Don't think it ever stopped till I moved away from that place lol

    Buy pet tarantula. Release.

Course, then you've got a tarantula in your house. I'm with the nuke option.

There are two ways to do it:
    1) Nuke it from Orbit.
    2) Clean compulsively. There is grease all over your kitchen. One small patch of grease residue from something you pan fried a month ago could keep a dozen cockroaches alive for a month. You need to get rid of all organic waste on any surface (including those that are hard to reach, like the back of your fridge, wall, top of the oven exhaust, inside your microwave, inside the microwave casing if something has exploded in there, etc.) Then you need to get a garbage can with a tight fitting lid and keep it closed. Finally, if your kitchen has a hard floor (most do) sprinkle the top product you linked (active ingredient: boric acid probably) around the perimeter of your kitchen and near any areas that you suspect are hotspots. Remember that roaches tend to travel along electrical wires/heating/plumbing in the walls and pop out/return to there.

Worst "And then there were roaches" story I've ever heard was from a friend who discovered a hoard of roaches living in the back of his microwave. They got inside the casing between the chamber and the box and apparently lived off grease from exploded things he had warmed.

I fought a battle with roaches two years ago that left me mentally scarred. Hot night in the bedroom so I went to the living room to sleep on the couch. I woke up with one in my nose. No joke.

You didn't mention anything about your housing situation. Are you in a house? An apartment? A condominium? Do you own or rent? Do you pay any association fees of any kind?

Regardless as to your specific situation, I'll tell you this: bombs don't work. You should know that now that you've used them twice. They simply scare roaches up into the nooks and crannies where they'll safely wait it out (while a few stupid ones die below, giving you false hope), and then they immediately come back.

the combat discs work well. roaches can live off the starches in glue, so you'll need to get rid of any wall paper or cabinet paper, and clean all that glue residue off as well. clean, get rid of kitchen/cabinet wall paper, and use the combat discs along with baseboard spraying. the combat discs are baited traps that coat the roaches in poison that kills them later, after they nest up during the day and rub it off on other roaches, helping to bring death and pestilence to the entire colony. remember once you kill all of yours, any neighbors that have them are just staging grounds for your next invasion, so be ready. constant vigilance is the price of freedom.

Hire a pro company, I had them really bad at one point. I used a local company, cost about $140. 3 years later I haven't seen any. I also payed $30/mo for 3 months after the first raid, but that was just to be sure.
All the other ways might work, the company will work, and if they don't, make them come back and do it again.

don't buy the roach motel shit, those things work but it's not the tool you want for heavy roach infestation. Try the powder first since it's cheap, though it's kinda dangerous if you somehow accidentally inhale them. I like the liquid stuff that you can spray on high risk places, pretty much the same thing exterminator would do.

won't work. Roaches can and will crawl into appliances and electronics. My friends computer tower was a warm haven for his roaches.

You could also try training your cat to kill any roaches it finds, if you have one. A lot of cats love toying with (read, breaking) any insects they come across.

    Of course, if its too big a roach your cat may be terrified of it instead unless it's a born mouser. <_<;
