best free video player for Android (galaxy nexus and nexus 7)

so im going on a long road trip and i'm planning on downloading a bunch of youtube videos for my kid because she's obsessed with youtube.

the question is what is the best free video player i can get that will play mp4 on the nexus 7 and the google nexus?

Eeyup, VLC for Android is still in beta but runs quite fine on my Galaxy Nexus ^^ Tried out different file formats (AVI, MP4, even MKV) and they all worked so far.
Still beta (there's even a "warning" popup on each start ^^), so there might be a few bugs or crashes. But i can say for sure, YT rips in MP4 format work with it ^^

im currently using the mxplayer. kid is obsessed with that minecraft family and almost would rather watch those then play so i think i can squeeze a fair amount of those ripped from the utub to the gnex and 7.

i will lookin into vlc tho since im a pc vlc junkie
