I was just pointing out that you picked a shitty example for your argument.

I want to point out that most of the crazy in the bible is always pulled from Leviticus. There's still tons of pure crazy in the other scriptures, but anytime someone links a particular one, it seems to be from Leviticus.

Romans really did do religion right

There's plenty elsewhere. And who cares? The bible is the infallible word of god. Last i checked, Leviticus is still part of the bible.

^ This is true. You can't have it one way or another. Word of God = Word of God. Stop trying to throw translations and other shit around. If God willed it, its in that holy tome, now accept it and accept your God, for better or for worse.

"God is owning up to his words. Why can't you own up to your God and love and worship everything about him?" All he wants is your undying, eternal affection for everything that he is. Even his wrath and his hatred.

For the vast majority of Christians, even reading it cover-to-cover on their own would be a start.

I've got some friends who are reading it cover-to-cover in a year. I want to grill them on the slavery and killing sections, but I want to make sure I do it offline so their idiot friends can't get all "YOU KNOW THAT THOSE THINGS DON'T APPLY ANYMORE!!" as if God ever put a fucking timetable on his word.

I sure as hell haven't seen anything in the bible that says "yeah, you can stop following my every command". Modern "scholars" love to throw out the ol' "Well when Jesus died for our sins, everything in the old testament became kinda moot, so...", to which I'd respond "then the 10 commandments are moot too, right? No more having to not covet the neighbor's wife, right?"

    http://sports.yahoo.com/news/major-l...0549--mls.html

This January, Major League Soccer announced it was teaming up with the Boy Scouts of America to form a strategic partnership. It turns out that 2012 will be the only season this alliance will be in effect.

“Major League Soccer’s agreement with the Boy Scouts of America expires at the end of the 2012 season and MLS does not intend the renew the agreement for a variety of business reasons,” MLS President Mark Abbott said in a statement to Goal.com on Friday.

Under the partnership, among other cross-promotions, teams held “Scout Nights” at their stadiums with discounted tickets, and players would visit local troops to discuss fitness and leadership.

Earlier in the week, the Boy Scouts of America announced that following a two-year review, it would continue its long-standing policy of excluding gays.

MLS did not specify if the ruling affected its decision to end the partnership, but it should be noted the league has supported anti-discriminatory causes like You Can Play, an organization dedicated to ending homophobia in sports.

Additionally, many teams, including the Chicago Fire, Chivas USA, D.C. United and the Columbus Crew have held game promotions for gay and lesbian groups. This May, the Fire announced a partnership with Equality Illinois, a LGBT-rights group.
Don't know if I'm going to watch or buy merch for any MLS event or team anytime soon but hey, celebrate the good things that happen right?

U mad bro? Anyway, unless your 'friends' are a bunch of Israelites (it only applied to them, who didn't know?) from ancient times, then yeah, you 'got them.' When our lord, Jesus Christ, died on the cross, that was the end of the Old Testament. None of that applies rite nowz. Y'all niggas only have to obey two: Love thy Lord and thy neighbour. Thus, if your 'friends' want to fornicate with some neighbour, and they're willing to accept the consequences of their actions, let them.

Leviticus also says many other things are an abomination. That is; it goes against normally accepted custom among the society in question.

Also, God is speaking through Moses to a specific group of people(the Levites) about the accepted laws and customs according to His will. Now, please correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Moses human and prone to thinking for himself? How much of what he said was his own wishes? He had the authority of God. Why wouldn't he throw in his own edicts with something like that to force the people into obedience?

Any way you try to argue, subverting religious text to oppress any person will always end in societies laughing at that religion. Fred Phelps anyone?

When our lord, Mighty Chthulhu, wakes from his slumber, that will be the end of us all. Neither of your testaments will alter that state of affairs.

(always annoys me when christwankers include everyone in their delusion)

    excerpt
If you aren't familiar with American Boy Scouting's Eagle Scout award, it might be a little hard to explain how important this story really is. Eagle Scout is a big deal. For one thing, it takes a lot of work to get the position. A scout has to earn 21 merit badges and then spearhead a community service project that they organize and manage themselves from start to finish. Add to that the fact that most kids don't stay in scouts through high school anyway, and you end up with the award representing a relatively small and elite group. Since 1911, about 2.1 million men have earned an Eagle Scout award. And it has serious implications once you graduate high school. There are scholarships. Eagle Scouts who enlist in the military after high school can start off with a higher rank than their peers. The adult Eagle Scouts I know have told me that they've gotten interview call-backs or even job opportunities because the award was on their resumes. Basically, it's more than just this medal you pick up at age 17. For many men, it's a lifelong position—and one that demonstrates a commitment to serving others and caring for the community.

So when Eagle Scouts start returning their medals to the Boy Scouts of America, that matters. Especially when these men are making this decision because they think it's the best way to demonstrate the values of being an Eagle Scout.
