Yeah, the medal count is inflated compared to basketball. I don't think anyone would argue that LeBron isn't one of the best athletes in the world, but he plays a team sport. Phelps happens to compete in an individual sport with many variations in competitions.

you could witness the most perfect boxing or most perfect basketball playing man ever performed and they would still only get one medal

Because they're competing in a single event. The swimmers aren't just swimming one meet at a time against one person. They're swimming against like 10 people each event.

If you want boxers to get multiple medals, maybe they should hold a series of battle royales.

Well, I was referring more to the solo during their unofficial anthem or whatever. Otherwise, just a matter of taste, I guess. I'm already automatically hyper-critical of kid acts on things like AGT, so maybe that's carrying over.

Hell, even the Americans would do best to duck NBCOlympics.

VIP and FRS have been spotty when it comes to events, but can't really complain.
