Olympic shuttle kills cyclist >_>

An Olympic bus hit and killed a cyclist near Olympic Park in east London on Wednesday evening.

According to London Metropolitan Police, the 30-year-old man was stuck and killed about a mile north of the Olympic Stadium at 7:45 p.m. local time.

Ambulance units including a helicopter were dispatched, but the bicyclist, who the IOC said was not an Olympic athlete, was pronounced dead on the scene about half an hour after the incident, the BBC reports.

NBC News interrupted volleyball coverage to announce that a media bus had been involved in an accident that killed a cyclist. Deadspin posted footage of the interruption, in which commentator Al Michaels made the announcement.

An AFP report from the scene of the Olympic bus accident described "a man's legs protruding from under the double decker bus." The shuttle buses regularly transport journalists between the games complex in east London and central London hotels.

The Associated Press reports that no one aboard the bus was reported injured, and no arrests were made in connection with the accident.

According to the AFP, 30 soldiers who had been carrying out security duties at the Olympic Park rushed to the scene after the accident, causing traffic to come to a standstill.

Ruta Meilutyte of Lithuania won a gold medal in the 100 meter breaststroke. It's only the second medal the country has ever won.

So I caught my first and last 5 seconds of NBCs Olympic coverage. Canadian diver's are about to do their synco dive and all the commentator can say is "These Canadian's are just lucky to be here.", or something to that effect. Patronizing sons of bitches lol.

I feel bad for the immigrants living in the US.... the foreigners at work are all pissed off. They keep saying shit like, "did you know the US is the only country with athletes at the olympics?" My initial reaction was kinda meh... like, yeah. You live here now. What do you expect? 8 hours of Polish athletes not winning? The more I watch though, the more I realize how bad it is.

It's a side effect of tape delay really. When you show things in real time, they have to show everybody, but when tape delay, they can pick and choose what to show you.
