You could make the argument that the top three players are comparable: LeBron/Kobe/Durant v. Jordan/Magic/Bird. But the depth on the Dream Team was ridiculous. They go two deep at every position with HoF'ers. This year's team has serviceable guys like Chandler, Harden, Love, and Deron Williams, who are all very good, but they just don't compare. They're not future HoF'ers. Also the size factor would be a joke, Robinson/Ewing/Barkley/Malone would terrorize down low.

Yeah, and people give credit to the inside game of that team, but I don't think people realize just how ridiculous it would be.

I don't think I'm exaggerating, at least not by much, when I say Robinson would score 70+... he was literally the kind of player that a team could just feed the ball to inside non-stop, and if you didn't have a Ewing, Olajawon, young Shaq, or at least some serious bangers like Horace Grant, Charles Barkley, etc., there was absolutely nothing at all you could do to stop him.

This team has no answer whatsoever to that. Let alone if there's a Malone scoring threat or Barkley grabbing every single rebound ever, and guys like Mullen outside shooting, not to mention he'd have Magic and/or Stockton feeding him...


Nevermind that you could go position by position and give the edge to 92 at every single one, and by the time you're at like the 4th or 5th guy you're not even talking about "an edge," you're talking about an utterly incomparable dominance.

Personally I'd rather have Chris Mullen on a team full of dominating presences as well, but that's a different argument.

Magic vs Paul? No Comparison, and it's no closer if you choose Stockton or Deron in either spot, either.
Jordan vs Kobe... lawl
Bird vs Lebron... you might be able to make an argument here given that Bird was like 35 at the time.
And now it just gets absurd.
Barkley vs ... Kevin Love? All time great vs "dude we've got to have someone that can play that position..."
Robinson vs Tyson Chandler... I honestly can't believe I just typed that.

Drexler vs Kobe... This is an interesting comparison. We know what Drexler would do with even a not-quite-as-good-as-shaq (i.e. win a championship with olajuwon even when they were both old), we don't know what Kobe would do with Bird's Celtics, Jordan's Bulls, Ewing's Nicks, Stockton/Malone Jazz, Barkley's Suns, Isaiah's Pistons, Magic's Lakers, Kemp/Peyton's Sonics, Drexler's Blazers, etc. to compete with.
Pippen/Mullen vs Lebron... I'll give you this one.
Karl Malone vs Kevin love... again, all time great vs "dude who the fuck can we get?"
Ewing vs Tyson Chandler... dude young Shaq, Hakeem Olajuwon, they got left off the damn team back then...

So yeah if you put this team's first string vs that team's second string, you have the edge in 1, possibly 2 positions, both of which are pretty debatable especially given the personalities around them in this situation.
