So can anyone explain why the U.S. chooses to show the closing ceremony like 3 hours after everyone else. It was the same for the opening ceremony

It's all about ratings. NBC doesn't want to show the closing ceremony live because they don't think they'll get as much viewer showing it in the afternoon vs during primetime.

Money. And on the west coast, they are still airing the marathon. So it's more like 6-7 hours for us.

I figured it was something ratings based but would the number of people who stream it live < the number of people who would watch it during primetime. If you really cared enough to want to watch it live that is.

Edit: that and the fact that it will run 2 1/2 hours until around 11PM for EST people. Which also lowers the number of older people/those who go to sleep early for work etc

Kinda glad I didn't bother watching it, would of stabbed my eardrums out when One Direction appeared and also when Yoko Ono did a hatchet job.
