    Chrome and YouTube issue

Just started having this problem this morning. My Chrome browser won't load YouTube videos anymore. They don't show up in threads - not even the embedded box. It's just a white space where a video should be. And when I visit YouTube itself to watch videos, there's just a black box and no navigation bar, play button, tracking bar, etc.

Anything I need to update? I can view vids fine on Firefox. But even with Chrome on my iPhone, it would have the same issue browsing the forums but it loads YouTube vids just fine.

I'm thinking it's an extension or plugin. I'd check your extensions and plugins and disable all of them one by one til it works and you'll be able to determine which plugin it is.

While I am a Chrome user, I must admit it's pretty shit compared to Mozilla, I only use it because I find it prettier

weird this just happened to me the other day except I was getting a green screen for every video I tried to play. Still had sound though. Couple days later google chrome just randomly fixed itself and started working again.

Not sure what you mean but I certainly don't like my constant crashing and unresponsive flash, oh and having to revert to Mozilla every time Chrome goes mental like when I was booking plane tickets recently and as many times as I refreshed the bill would not update correctly and the second I go to Mozilla it's fine

See if you have Chrome's web accelerator enabled. If you do, turn it off.

've had like 3 crashes over the past two years when using chrome.

<3 Firefox and all but I haven't looked back.

Gotta agree OP your problem sounds like a plugin.

If you're not familiar with Firefox's memory leak you have no right to have an opinion on browsers. It's a stable, fast browser but leave it running for a few days and you'll quickly be in 3-4GB memory usage.

I don't know why you'd leave a browser running for multiple days on end for one, and second I'm on unlimited use so it's a non-issue. The flash problems with Chrome were meant to be fixed but I still have it occasionally, and this is over multiple PCs/laptops so it's not my hardware. The glitches like things being unclickable or not updating correctly are, I believe, flash errors also. I don't know how they allow it to continue running the way it does but for some reason they do.

I don't understand why I have memory leaks with 12/13/14 that I never had with 3.6. Or rather, what took weeks in 3.6 now takes one day.

The memory leaks have been present since it was Netscape Navigator.

Probably because you're the only person having that problem. Everyone in my department uses Chrome unless we're accessing something that is only IE compatible and NONE of them are having the issues you're having.

Sounds like you've fucked something up. Give me an example of a site that you're having problems with and I'll show you that it renders fine in my browser.

btw, Firefox 15 is supposed to kill the memory leaks. I guess we'll see if it works...

FYI I had an identical issue with Firefox and a realplayer setting was the culprit

I don't believe you're genuinely suggesting that I somehow fucked up something in the exact same manner on all of my systems? That would be just a little improbable. Tell me also, do you not believe there was a major flash problem with Chrome earlier this year? I wasn't the only person I know who experienced it. It happens with even YouTube every now and then, when I open multiple videos.

I never have crash issues or anything bad with Chrome, what the hell? It's simple and very quick and I can have a lot of tabs open without it killing my comp.

Also, I think I had the youtube issue but I can't recall if it was with Firefox or Chrome. I also can't recall what fixed it, but it was VERY annoying. I think a reinstall fixed it.

Wait, are we considering that a crash? LOL. That happens from time to time, but I never considered it a crash because it takes 1 second to fix by "reloading." I reload all the time, chances are I probably wanted to do it again anyway. (read, Reddit, Forums, etc.)

For lack of a better term, yes, crash. While it does only take one second to F5 it is annoying as fuck to have to click every tab (sometimes up to 15) when I am clicking open tons of tabs and F5 them all. Inb4 zomg CTR-TAB and F5, but why bother when this NEVER happens on Mozilla? Pretend it's not a problem if you really want to be pretentious.
