I think that was his point.
Hard to follow this thread between the trolling and blinding anger but I think hey's very simple x+y = x conundrum where y =/= 0 pretty much ends the discussion. X is harassment, killing, whatever where Y is bigotry. So, killing because someone's gay, lesbian, transsexual, or intersexed is worse than just killing someone. I.. don't think that's so hard to agree upon but I feel out of place for agreeing(I think?) with the person that's been flamed for over 18 pages
killing someone because they're gay is the same as killing someone because they're white is more accurate.
as well we've talked about this before, killing out of hate should not be minority inclusive.
do you think what happened in colorado wasn't as severe because it was white straight people that were killed?
...and killing someone because they're gay or white are both very different from killing someone because you want their TV.
Is the point everyone with an IQ above room temperature is trying to make.
Well yeah, obviously the Y being bigotry doesn't need to be bigotry towards LGBT community, that's just the example I used but the main point is that killing + bigotry > just killing.
But yeah, I should have been inclusive of everything since my post could have been misinterpreted
This is just for clarification.. but the people killed in colorado were just killed, they were NOT killed BECAUSE they were white straight people. Afaik, anyway. If someone's harassed/killed/whatever because they're white then it's no more or less severe than a LGBT person being harassed/killed/whatever, but once you add the bigotry the crime is worse than without it.
I feel like people are confusing motive with situation now, and also assuming that killing someone is murder.
No, they're the same crime* if the mass murderers didn't do it specifically because they were either all white straight males in the theater or all gays in the bar.
*on a magnitude scale of wrongness
yes but the op implied its always worse if it is a minority.
op was also asking how disgusted we were with this. honestly, emotionally if someone i knew was murdered i would be just as sad if they were murdered because they were gay as I would if they were murdered because someone wanted their wallet. That's the point. I wouldn't be more sad or outraged no matter the motive. OP was asking our thoughts, that's my thoughts anyway.
What's fuck up is no one is saying its less outrageous just that its just as outrageous.
I'm sorry some in the BG gay community believe they're superior to the rest of us
I think between two people
1- kills someone because he wants their wallet
2- kills someone because they think differently than them
2 is totally the worse human being and should, if we're denoting punishment by jail time, get more jail time than the guy who killed for the wallet, no?
Killing people, period; is wrong; I really don't understand how you guys say its more wrong because the killing is flavored with: terrorism, racism, religion, madness, etc, etc. The person is dead and it being more wrong or less wrong is not going to bring the person back to life.
