I'm calling you out cause you're being dumb
if you removed all references to the victims sexuality it would illicit the same reaction from me. It was a terrible crime.
I'm sorry the fact that it doesn't make me even angrier distresses you.
I don't give a shit if it makes you angrier or not, Rhinox. You're denying the privilege you enjoy in our society as a cisnormative heterosexual man(Which is funny as fuck, by the way). The fact that you're trying to invalidate the anger I have towards my community having violence committed against it is what's especially shitty. You can't say violence is shitty regardless of who was targeted and why, and then say how annoying it is that violence against the LGBT community is being specified.
Never said it was annoying. I'm sorry I've upset you enough for you to start adding words to my posts.
Pain is pain, my dear; it when someone is suffering or being killed, the last thing they're thinking about is if they're in a majority or minority. They're thinking about the pain, and that pain doesn't lessen or increase depending on whether you're a majority or minority. All crimes across the minority/majority line should be punished the same way, because the crime itself has not differed simply because it was applied to a minority or majority.
What needs to change, however, is the prevailing logic that anyone that is not exactly like you is somehow a threat. That is how crimes against minorities being in the first place, and that is how those in the majority are given a free pass in the court of public opinion before the crime is committed, much like our "Joker" friend last week. A minority would have been scrutinized right off the back, as they are every day of their lives by someone in the majority.
The crimes themselves, however, should warrant no additional punishment. Simply make the punishment fit the crime itself.
What you need to do is think less about how the crime affects you after the fact, and think about how it affects the victim at the time of the attack. No victim feels any better about being the subject of a horrible crime, be they a majority, minority or other. You're being a bit selfish, even though you aren't meaning to be. Everyone understands your view, but your view is, sadly, off-target.
also is it to early to play the cisnormative heterosexual man drinking game?
I agree with you, but you cannot deny discrimination against minorities at the same time.
We were illogically attacked regardless!
I disagree with you there. People who commit hate crimes are specifically targeting a group of people because they are apart of a minority. It should be especially worse because of it.
--
Here comes the denial that it isn't what you implied.
And then you say shit like that, you really are deplorable. The LGBT community has suffered and still suffers violence against it, because we are lesbians, gay, bisexual, or transgender. We are illogically blamed for the most absurd things, and while people embracing common sense can see the insanity in what hate groups say, the fact is they're still saying it.
No one is denying discrimination against minorities. What people are denying is increased punishment for the same crime if that crime is committed against someone different than you. That's what it boils down to. That the person targeted a specific type of person doesn't make the crime "more of a crime". A shot to the throat of a grown person is a shot to the throat of a grown person, regardless of whether one is black or white or one is male or female. The court of public opinion may hiss and call out how mean or cruel it is, but it doesn't change the fact that it is still a shot to the throat. Punish the shot.
Its not like hate crime laws actually deter criminals, as those committing hate crimes either don't care about going to jail, or feel that they aren't going to go anyway, as they'll be protected due to their majority status or connections. Increasing the penalty doesn't do anything when a person has that mindset, and it doesn't serve as a deterrence against future crimes. I'm pretty sure that anyone callous enough to commit a crime like that doesn't care about public opinion anyway.
It's especially heinous because they are targeting us for something we have no control over. If you can't see where I'm coming from with that, so be it. You and I clearly have nothing more to discuss.
(annoying [əˈnɔɪɪŋ]adjective: causing irritation, displeasure, or vexation) Are you going to continue to deny that you're annoyed that violence against the LGBT community is being specified? You deny the privilege you have as a cisnormative heterosexual man, you point out that violence against the LGBT community shouldn't get more/less sympathy for you, and now this shit? I mean, lol, you're a real piece of work.
Ding ding ding ding, I don't think any group who had these words carved into their body and their house set on fire would be more shocking than another group having it done to them. It's downright disgusting and deplorable but not because they were a LBGT but because of the act itself is that severe. While the motive may be group related that doesn't mean the hate crime would be seen as less disgusting if done to someone else like a minority, straight women, etc.
The point is that a member of the LGBT community was targeted because they were apart of the LGBT community. Do you remember how outraged the black community was when Trayvon Martin was shot dead? It's no different from that, do you remember why they were outraged? The same shit that Rhinox and you are shilling out. You can't disregard a person's motive for committing a crime so that cisnormative heterosexual men aren't butt hurt that attention is being paid to the fact that a minority was attacked.
Stop denying your cisnormative heterosexual man rights cleverness.
You manly man you.

I'm pretty sure EVERYONE was outraged over the Treyvon thing. I was outraged of the fact that a kid in a hoodie with a bag of skittles was killed for no reason, the fact that he's black is irrelevant to me. I would be equally offended if someone of a different race or sexual preference had the same thing happen to them.
And the trap has been sprung. Saw that shit coming from a mile away lol.So what you're saying is violence against gays is worse than Violence against non gays?
and take another drink.
