The fuck? That is most certainly not true. For example, you could kill in self defense, or you could kill some random person for the sole reason of proving that it's possible to kill someone you don't hate.
Only morally. However, the actions are identical. It is apples and oranges.
Why don't you try reading what i say? That's not what i'm arguing. I'm arguing that killing someone is the same as killing someone. The end. That's all. The action is the same, regardless of motive. Killing in self defense and murder are very different things.
My point is that the only difference is motive. I am trying to demonstrate it it does indeed matter why someone kills someone.
I agree with Rhinox, is that not inclusive enough? Maybe I should point out and repeat every minute scenario already typed by someone else at least 3 times, since the last two pages has been a clusterfuck of semantics and stupid fucking scenarios unrelated to killing people for a socially unacceptable reason.
Or maybe you are too bored and require posts that resemble the bible in lenght? Or do you need to be spoon fed all the information, too hard to fill in the blanks?
I've had better arguments with children. Considered me trolled
Funny, i was going to say the same thing.
Well, yes. I have said the same thing many times before. And my position has, of course, not changed. However this is only true because if it is murder, certain motives have been excluded as a possibility. And my point is regardless of the fucking motive murdering people is wrong.
I'm still not sure why you are arguing that killing someone is completely different, and impossible to compare to killing someone. They are literally exactly the same thing.
Goodnight
Does anyone know where I can find a list of the various privilege coefficients?
I'd like to calculate my total privilege score so I can know when I can call someone out for their privilege and when I should just keep quiet.
The only reason targeting or murdering someone for sexuality, color, or based on any discrimination should have a slightly higher penalty because it most of the time it shows premeditation. This still doesn't show us a need for hate crime laws.
The reason is, for example, imagine a person was targeting prostitutes out of misplaced sense of justice. Will having that person get 5-10 more years in prison stop that kind of person? Hate crime laws are flawed because they unfairly punish people who make stupid mistakes (mostly dumb kids that get caught up in peer pressure) and won't deter the true zealots.
The only advantage to longer sentences is that you keep those dangerous offenders off the street for longer. If you really think that the current punishment for premeditated murder of a gay person is too lax and then you should lobby for longer sentencing or *gasp* maybe even the death penalty for premeditated murder. How can you say it's worse for someone to kill their neighbor because he's gay and believes shouldn't have kids vs killing your wife because she shouldn't be allowed to have kids with her new husband? The law does take into account the likelihood of re-offense so saying he only has one ex-wife is a moot point.
I live in Canada and we have hate laws, we even have laws against people making publications or statements saying kill the jews, kill the homos, etc. but it just doesn't work. You'll always have dissenting opinions from the norm and it's almost more important to tackle these opinions head on as opposed to just trying to sweep it under the rug. The media often makes it worse because they will just quote people like the Westboro Baptists with little to no rebuttal. I really like the comment George Clooney made I don't know if it was recent but basically he said "I don't give a shit if you call me gay because it's not insulting to me." I bet you money that most of the anti-gay or homophobic crime comes down to kids being bullied in school whether or not they are gay or straight. I don't know how you stop bullying but I bet if you could that would stop the majority of supposed hate crimes.
No, you get over yourself. Being a member of the LGBT community does not give you special priviledges. You cannot go around pleading for equality in life and then once you're treated equally by members of this forum, say your community deserves more recognition for being a part of that community. It doesn't fucking work like that. You're a disgusting human being (Not because you're a member of the LGBT community, lets just clear that right up right here before you try and twist this.) but because of your remarks in this topic. You are so very spiteful and coincidentally so filled with hate. I truly pity you as a person. Grow the fuck up.Who it was done to and why it was done to them does matter. I'm not the one making a big deal out of that, you and anybody who has argued that is doing so. I am outraged that somebody was attacked because of their affiliation with the LGBT community, that's all. Get over yourselves, people.
