You guys don't have to get defensive. It's not like there only exists two categories of people: homophobes and allies of gay people. In reality there exists spectrums or degrees. Maybe in one end you have raging homophobes you hate gay people with every fiber of their soul, and on the other you have highly obsessive pro gay activists. In between you can find people who empathize with what gay people go through and you might find people who care very little at all about this and just want to have their spicy chicken. Just because they value their spicy chicken more than the rights of gay people (in your defense, it's really really good spicy chicken), it doesn't mean that they're actively homophobes and they're organizing politically against the rights of gay people.

I care mostly that other gay people learn a lesson here. That very very few straight people genuinely emphasize with them, and the vast majority of straight people are simply apathetic. Once you understand that, your tactics can better reflect reality.

It's that if you believe in social justice, then you must also believe in an economic system that produces just outcomes. Do I boycott starbucks because they don't allow their local branches to display any form of thanks from military personnel in their stores so that people won't think they are pro war? Is thinking that the Constitution itself already grants you the rights you seek not enough? Is there some way I should make the Constitution grant more rights? More specific rights? Specific rights?
