You cite voting for someone who will become one of the figureheads of western civilization opposing rights for LGBT people as not being a big deal. If we have a backwards thinking person in charge of our country, what does that say about the people who voted them into office? Donating to GLAAD once doesn't absolve people of their duty to stand up and fight for the rights of human beings(regardless of skin color, purported class in society, creed, gender identity, or sexual orientation). The same can be said for people who voted for Prop 8.

Obama himself has changed sides on the issue multiple times, in 2008 he opposed gay marriage. How many people in this thread do you think voted for him in '08? How many people from the gay community do you think voted for them?

Simply do not attempt to invalidate a community's outrage towards the violence perpetrated against it by citing that violence occurs to everyone. I want to talk about Final Fantasy XI Online and other subjects that are important to me. One such subject was the brutal attack on somebody targeted due to their sexual orientation or gender identity! But you know what I like doing more? I like sharing what music I'm listening to, and I like being berated when I make a less than stellar post! I really do! I like posting about the good times I had on my server with friends that have long since quit. I liked going to this forum more than I did other places, and that's still the case for the most part, but you brought something to light which I could not ignore. Look at what you've done, Rhinox. You have made jokes upon the backs of the people who have been hurt by the same words you still shill out. And I don't want to play FFXI Online anymore. I don't want to play FFXIV anymore. And they have always been an integral part of who I am as they have so often gotten me through rough patches in my life and the friends I've made, while few, have also helped in that. Throughout the entire thread you have consistently avoided answering anyone's questions all the while calling everyone who disagrees with you a bigot. Your responses consist of nothing more than catchphrases you picked up from websites/pamphlets in order to mask the fact that you really have no relevant thought on the item at hand. You're bemoaning the fact that your community isn't treated equally. But then you start shrieking discrimination/inequality the moment someone dares say a crime against the LGBT community should be treated the same as a crime committed against anyone else.
