I am affected by the discrimination and as such it is personal out of necessity, but at the same time there is an actual issue that needs to be combated, and that is discrimination against minority groups. As I've said before. The LGBT community is extremely diverse. There are differences in opinions on many of the issues that affect us and there are equally as many opinions on how to go about handling them. That is all I have to say about it. I am speaking from my point of view. I genuinely don't give a fuck about what somebody's co-workers have to say.

I'm much more interested in my right to be left the fuck alone with petitions and cries for me to join in on the outrage.

1: I was asked to sign a petition.
2: I declined.
3: I was asked why.
4: I said "because I don't give a fuck".
5: I was followed and yelled at.

You can call me whatever you want for what happened in number 4, but after #3, no matter what my response was, the petitioners would not have been happy with it. They were looking for something to get outraged over one way or another...

And no, I don't care about gay rights. I'm not saying they don't deserve marriage or whatever the hell it is they were petitioning for, I'm just saying I don't care.

If the supreme court ruled tomorrow that every state needs to recognize gay marriage, I would not care.
If they made a universal, permanent, irreversible ban on gay marriage tomorrow, I would not care.

The only thing that would bother me about it is the resulting gay drama plastered all over the news, papers and internet - which would happen either way.

I had some mormon missionaries come up to me as I was walking my dog a few days ago. They asked if I ever talked to one before and I said "Nope. Don't care and I'm gay" they then said "okay, have a good day" Me: "You too" and we went our separate ways with no care in the world.

Was I being apathetic towards their cause and thus part of the problem? By Celeste's logic, yes. Do I respect them more because they left me the fuck alone? Yes. If they kept pestering me like asshats and following me and yelling at me like psychotic morons. I'd think "What a bunch of crazy religious fuckasses" (sidenote: mormonism is mega lulz but they're really nice people even if they hate gays.)

If a person is apathetic towards an issue like gay marriage all I can do is encourage them not to be because we need help to end discrimination.
