Everyone else: "Oh god this is despicable, any human being that this would happen to I feel terrible for. What would possess someone to do something like this."

Are you aware that this is how it's playing out Celeste. If someone had a slur word written on their door or something then that's one thing, but the details of this attack are INTENSE, to the point that it doesn't really matter that they were targeted because of their sexual orientation but because the attack went to this degree. The motive is important but that is not really relevant in regards to judging how to react to this attack when the attack was of this degree. That is what you are not getting that everyone is saying.

As a queer I kind of agree with Rhinox.

Any type of senseless violence like this deserves headlines and outrage, I don't feel like the world should stop for it though. Ideally, I would love if asshats like WBC wouldn't be able to spew the shit they say but that's not right either because then you get into the whole censorship garbage which I'm 100% fully against. The only thing I can hope for is that groups like them get so out-of-touch with the majority of society and get pushed down into the sewers like the KKK and neo-nazis or other shitty groups.

God I hate myself for saying this, but at some point you have to be careful about discriminating yourself with your cause. Saying that someone of beat/raped/murdered is horrible, saying someone is beat/raped/murdered because of their sexual orientation is also horrible, but the reason does devalue the level of the crime. That said I do agree that there is a level of tolerance of hate groups that moves way past free speech.

I actually understand what you're saying, Cleverness. That wasn't the point that Rhinox was making though. We are on the same level in that regard. However, you may notice that what you and I agree on is not the same as what Brill Wreave is saying and what Ksandra, and Rhinox have also said. Despite that, yes, I think it's horrible that a member of my community was attacked for being apart of the LGBT community. It's disgusting and retrograde behavior. In that, I also think it's important to state what they were subjected to based on their affiliation with the LGBT community.
