Might be risky since if theirs winds up landing (Silencing Kirin flashbacks...), it could just reset the process while giving a shorter duration/potency debuff.

Ya, agree with this, plus they said the Immunobreak chance will decrease each time you take advantage of it by sticking a spell. Probably safer to just have WHMs/RDMs (and BLMs/SCHs if they have the right sub) spamming silence, that should still be plenty of people and Silence recast isn't very long. That being said, I can't really see a BRD or something landing a Silence with any regularity on a mob which needs immunobreak to land it. It's at least worth testing to see if a significantly lower accuracy spell (from sub or whatever) still has the same chance to Immunobreak. I would think not, but that's just an assumption.
Unless you are getting pdt from somewhere else or are already capped on the jobs you care about.
Also if you are a ranged job the new staff is better for magical ws and there are a host of better things for physical. Most notably anything one handed since you should be use /war when doing physical ws anyways
0/114 on Plumb Boots so far. Getting slightly annoyed.
Put it in random facts but since it's update related thought I'd put it here too...
So did some more testing of chatoyant staff. Helixs force staff procs too yay. It doesn't bypass the cap on day/weather effects like twilight does. And they either ninja updated the cap or the people who originally figured it out messed up because after doing several times it is most definitely 40% not 35%
For the first helix part just nuked random stuff on sch with different helixes compared dmg. For the cap thing went to ull grabbed mob on. Nuke with ionohelix then with cryohelix on same mob compared dmg. Would do again under different conditions gear. Even put on obi just in case.
Just day was 10% boost. Just day +af2 15%. Day + weather was 30%. Day + weather with af2 pants 35%. Day + double weather 40%. Day + double weather + af2 pants 40%. Day + double weather + af2 pants no staff 40%
ice and thunder used because blm merits
So you switched to blm for the other tests? IDK how relic pants work, might be outside of the cap.
You had twilight cape?
EDIT: forgot /SCH could do helixes now grumble grumble
Yeah I did blm for cap testing to make sure. Relic pants is another 5% day only works 100% of the time on any spell doesn't go outside the cap as you can see from the numbers I posted. I have twilight but I didn't use it because I was merely establishing if staff broke cap or not and wasn't expecting prior knowledge to be wrong. I suppose I will have to test that to as people testing it before might have assumed 40% meant it was breaking the cap... I'll have to wait till theres a day that matches a common double weather.
I must say I had orginally thought this testing would be much harder till I saw that helixes don't need obis lol
Helix forces weather proc just like obi, that's what it means when it says "greatly affected by weather" in the spell description. Good confirmation, makes sense that it also forces Iridescence proc.
All right tried out cape and nope it doesn't let you go past 40%. Seems that they may have just raised the cap and people thought the cape was just going past it instead lol
Helices/Drains/Aspirs never needed Obis because they're 'greatly affected by weather'. Which reminds me I have to tell Motenten to adjust that in his XML for SCH as it has me changing to obi when I cast a helix.
I also haven't heard it, and it seems somewhat difficult to prove.

Regarding drain/aspir always getting weather bonus - it's almost definitely incorrect - my Drains and Aspirs are noticeably powered up while using Anrin Obi in Dynamis. It would not be a difficult proof in Dynamis - if weather bonus was guaranteed, you would never see a result in the bottom end of the normally expected no-weather drain/aspir range. If weather bonus is not guaranteed, you'd see some results down there - even one would prove it.
