Cause the sports thread tend to surprisingly enough be more civil than every single political/religion thread that has ever been posted in GD even with leroys terrible posting in there, so they just moved it to Poopdeck so the political topics would stop bumping the pet thread(the best thread in that section imo) down from scrolling distance.

Well if their intention was to keep general discussion active and busy perhaps they shouldn't have pulled political threads from it.
