Dunno who this lady is, but she needs some funding and PR team stat. This single website probably gave her more free PR than any she may have had. I'm probably going to look into her and vote for her assuming she doesn't have any major glaring holes in her opinions the site neglected to mention.

The PR mission has to (somehow) come before the voting. You and others may set a minor precedent for the future, but for the most part you're just bringing Mittens that much closer to office.

That is how it seems to me in the anecdotal sense. Most of the "Democrats" I know actually are more just socially liberal and are willing to vote for someone different if they agree with their views. Most of the "Republicans" I know are quite staunch in their support for the party regardless of if they disagree with certain policies.

Beyond my own personal experiences I would be interested in knowing more about the parties at large and their willingness to vote for someone not in their party.

I am unsure of how true it actually is. Allegedly in 2008, there were a decent number of republicans who supported Barack Obama (Colin Powell as probably the most prominent).

Republicans are, if anything, just more boisterous in any potential partisanship.

That could be very true. I would be curious about the actual numbers. I said in my post that it was purely an anecdote. Just my personal experience with friends and family. It would be really interesting to me if at their core voters who identify themselves as Republican were more likely to vote for people outside their party in this country. Maybe the way Republicans are represented in the media along with the very boisterous and outspoken groups lend itself to the view or impression that Republicans/Conservatives are not willing to compromise and do not care about a candidates actual position and only vote along party lines.

I ask because there seems to be too much worry about Obama losing votes and Romney coming out on top - but if people that vote Republican and Democrat both start voting different parties, I don't think the desaturation of the two party votes will tip the scales as one would suggest. Of course, IF Republicans don't jump ship to a different party (or in numbers large enough to matter) then I see the worry. And considering the options for the Republicans, I can see them having more confidence in a different party than in their current Republican candidate (unless they REALLY hate Obama).

something like that could probably be organized through some sorta vote cancellation. by that i mean get a D that would rather vote Green and a R that would rather vote Libertarian and have both of them pledge to vote for that way. You cancel a vote for obeezy and mittens, while supporting your candidate, instead of some sort've vote split and other guy wins.

basically a 2-party system with 2 sets of the system.

i got 91% for stein, i had already planned on voting for her anyway so i guess that makes sense. was surprised to come in at like 80% for obama 'cuz that sounds way too high to me.

I suspect a lot of people getting high scores with the greens and democrats while also getting high scores with the libertarians are doing so because they're agreeing more with the libertarians on social issues rather than economic ones.
