I'm not sure what your point is. This is the difference between a cause of death and what caused someone to die. While the punch wouldn't actually be what caused death, it directly lead to it, and without it there would not be any death.

Neither of those show that the pepper spray caused their death. The first one is just idiotic. Fucking sniffing glue can kill you while you're doing cocaine. It was a hypothesis and this article was written before the whole excited delirium condition came in to play. Their studies are again an example of a preexisting condition that does not prove Pepper Spray can just straight kill you. A special circumstance or very very marginal set of circumstances and the right phase of the moon don't mean the shit is lethal. And the asthma is a pre-existing condition and he died from an asthma attack, not being sprayed. That's just negligence on the officers part for not giving the guy medical attention when he was having an attack.
