Sensationalism at it's finest.
These weren't innocent Latinos trying to sell oranges at a traffic light. These were documented gang members known to open fire at the police, anyone with common sense of who these guys were would have done the same. I really hate to use the term but stop being such bleeding heart liberals. The other man killed by the police, Joel Mathew Acevedo, 21, was shot after officers tried to stop his car on Sunday. The police say that he tried to flee on foot and that he then opened fire on them. The police said that both Mr. Acevedo and Mr. Diaz were gang members with criminal records.
And stop with the whole racial profiling bullshit.
You have no idea what it's like to be disenfranchised, do you? I'm not saying the victim of this shooting is a gang member, but what could possibly lead people to such a life to begin with? An ivy league college or a gang must have been a tough choice for gang members. We can cry foul and say gang members are terrible, reprehensible human beings all day long, but it would never get to the root of the problem.
A substance they suspect was heroin! Must be like that gun that was never found. Once again, top notch police work.
Gang members commit crimes. That is the root of the problem.
Jesus Christ. You're defending people who would rob and beat you without a second thought. These poor, poor violent criminals. I come into contact with hundreds of people every day who are disenfranchised but still SOMEHOW manage to not be gang members or drug dealers. This is the dumbest thread I've ever participated in.
I still can't believe you blamed discrimination for this.
Police officers are not chemists. Police officers ship suspected drugs to be analyzed by someone else. You say "suspected heroin" because at that moment, you cannot be positive that it is heroin. But yeah, I normally carry around shit that looks like heroin and then throw it on roofs when police come around. I'm sure you do too, right?
Top notch CSI: Miami based info you absorbed there.
Are you fucking for real? I can say for a fact I know a shit ton more about the streets then you do. These aren't "oh woes is me" type people, more like "fuck bitches, get money."
They can't claim for a fact it's heroin. It has to be shipped off and confirmed at a lab, quick test packets aren't reliable.A substance they suspect was heroin! Must be like that gun that was never found. Once again, top notch police work.
Do us a favor Celeste. Walk into South Bronx and try to help these "disenfranchised" gang members. See how that turns out.
You really should find out a little about what you're talking about before you get into a discussion. It's not an unidentified substance.
If a report says "suspected to be heroin" 99.9% of the time it's going to be heroin. You can tell by looking at it and how it's packaged, as well as a bunch of other circumstances. The other .1% of the time, it's heroin mixed with something else, or fake drugs deliberately made to look like heroin to be sold. And most of the time you can tell if it's fake drugs.
good for the officers
Not something you hear everyday from a black guy.
Did all the people saying "good for the officers" miss the bit where the cops may have shot someone in the back of the head while he was running away? Obviously it's the cops' word against the family so far, until some kind of autopsy report is released.
To be frank, I'm not inclined to trust the word of a group of people that's willing to discharge less-lethal (still potentially lethal) firearms at a crowd that contains small children and infants. That's not even getting into the police dog attacking a mother who was holding her infant in her arms.
Good for the officers.
You're more inclined to trust the word of a group of people who thought "Oh, a protest that is getting violent, it seems like a good idea to keep my toddler around here against police orders"? And it seemed from the video that the dog was not intended to be loose. Officers don't usually chase after the dog and try to pull if off people if they're letting it loose. But the video doesn't show the beginning, so who knows.
