Also, boo-who at gang members dying. The family has a legitimate beef with the government and society, but its not cause a police officer shot one of them, its cause government and society have allowed for circumstances to exist where gang life is the best option for someone to get by in that area, with their ethnicity.

Its nice and all that the UK police can manage with pepper spray and tazers, but they're living on borrowed time. Its only a matter of time before they're caught with their pants down versus someone with a couple assault rifles, body armor, and a thousand rounds of ammo.
Not carrying around a gun all the time ≠ never using a gun, ever.

lol is this an American thing? Cause protests in Canada are certainly not considered a "high risk situation".

Also, are you retarded? Cause in that video it certainly looked like the cops were up in their neighbourhood, shooting shit up.

Do you think these 'defenders' would rather be in Compton stopping the bloods and the creeps from shooting each other, or in West LA handing out jaywalking/parking chicken ass tickets? When the society they are supposed to protect is afraid of them, then there's something wrong. Now, I'm not saying all of them are a bunch of assholes either.

honestly, I agree with most of this.

How many cops do you actually know? Where are you gathering your knowledge that "most" cops are high school grads with a hard on for power who get off on beating people up for no reason? I know a lot of cops, and while there are definitely a few that love their power, most of them are regular people who are there to do a job and make sure bad people go to jail. If criminals who break the law are afraid of me, that's not a bad thing.

It's also pretty ironic that Jefe inferred that those "defenders" would rather be handing our jaywalking tickets than fighting gang problems in a thread that resulted from cops shooting gang members.

People who don't know at least a couple officers personally need to shut their trap.

No, it's not a thing at all. Unless you're blind, deaf and retarded, protests are almost perfectly safe, unless you don't want them to be. And there is pretty much always ample time to get out of a bad situation if you don't want to be there.

If my experience at ows counts for anything, in the two weeks i spent there, the worst that happened to me when i wasn't prepared for anything was getting hit by a cop on a scooter going like 1 mph (which hurt no more than if a person walked into me). Other than that, the only time i was ever hurt (i had a barrier rammed into me, which knocked me to the ground after the people behind me moved back), i was doing something obviously illegal, and had around an hour of warnings to leave before the cops did anything.

If you play nice, stay aware of what is going on around you, and don't mind leaving if you are uncomfortable with the situation, there's nothing to worry about during a protest.

Whole lot of dumb in this thread, makes me sad.

I think the police hate, people have nothing better to do than join a gang, it's not their fault, we forced them etc outlook on the inner cities is the same as: jesus or gtfo, terroristssss, get a job you bum, marriage is between adam and eve not adam and steve.

I'll let you determine which adjective you'd like to place before 'retarded' when describing people of either of these opinions.

also, that means you're ignorant and should spend less time posting and more time expanding your horizons.

Expanding your horizons does not consist of talking to people at your college who knew a brown guy or watched a black dude bang a chick similar to their girlfriend in a porno once

Ok, premise #1: America's economy and society are tilted in such a way to promote the continuously enjoyed advantage white people have.
Premise #2: Minorities, especially within city areas, live in congregated areas that are generally in rougher shape and have higher rates of crime, more pollution and litter, and a bad reputation amongst residents of the other neighborhoods.

So a problem clearly exists, still. That problem is the product of many factors; primarily society at large and the government. Cops have every right to shoot someone that they feel at the instant in time is a threat to their life. Governments and societies, as has been established gradually over the last two centuries, do not however have a right to oppress, through intent or indifference, any group of people - whether that group is defined by a gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, or religion.

Because the police officer acted within his right to use lethal force based on his perception that his life was in imminent danger, their beef with that is compromised. Yes, his perception was wrong, but his intent was justifiable. If I was in possession of a firearm, police officer or not, I would not hesitate to use it if I felt someone was preparing to use a lethal weapon on me. I would not wait to see what they're grabbing, thats a great way for me to end up dead.

Society and the government have no justification for their continued disregard and occasional exploitation of minorities. The fact that I walk into professional offices on interviews, around college campuses, and into public schools and I see very few, if any, minorities and I walk into Walmart or McDonalds and see 75%+ minorities in service positions getting menial wages, is that not exploitation? And if you were born in a bad neighborhood, with parents who never went anywhere, with friends dropping out of school left and right, with nothing but a dirty Dollar General to food shop in, tell me you would not be more inclined to escape from the stress with narcotic drugs, not be more inclined to commit crimes and be tempted by gang life, tell me you would not be more inclined to generally do all the thing gangbangers do. I don't blame people - be they black, hispanic, or white - in bad circumstances for joining gangs, they don't do it because they're weak people. They do it because they're people of normal strength and character who can't summon superhuman strength and character to overcome the obstacles. Fix the situation; solve the problem the situation creates.

Most of the people in my department require at least an associates to join. Education wise, most of them know what they're doing. Most of them are just fucking stupid.

An education doesn't mean you're smart or street smart. Too many times have I seen people come to this job with master's degrees and years of education, and get shot or stabbed or get the crap kicked out of them within the first year. It takes a special kind of person to be a police officer. Yes, there is a sense of power but the truly good enforcer of law knows how to use it responsibly.

Everytime someone gets killed by a police officer, its a huge outrage because people say its an abuse of power. What about the hundreds of officers who get killed every year for just doing their job? Or the thousands killed just for existing? Or how about the little kids killed on street corners because they're a witness to a crime that happened infront of them?

Most of you people live in a perfect bubble that is unbreakable and never seen the bottom of the barrel. Ever traded your baby for an ounce of meth? What's next? You resort to robbery once you don't have anything to trade. End up killing 10 people or so just because the robbery went sour. Then what? Can't get caught by the police. They'll make you reform. Shootout with police and another junkie gets greased. It's another stat on the paperwork and we move on. That's life.

You mean a candlelight vigil would be more calm and tranquil than a march on Disneyland? And because the police weren't there? Shocking. That reporting was very fair and balanced.

"There is a hispanic majority in Anaheim and the police are predominantly white. So there is a little bit of tension cau..........." I stopped watching the video right there. Fucking media always turning this stuff into a racism/discrimination problem. The media is what perpetuates the idea in the first place.

So those retards are now protesting on weekends outside of Disneyland until the WDC speaks out against Anaheim PD. Yea, that's not going to happen.
