Protests aren't all high risks. if people were throwing rocks at the cops, then the kids should have left, but otherwise cops don't usually just start shooting without provocation, or warning.

edit: taking kids to a protest isn't really a bad idea. Not being prepared to watch for signs of things getting out of hand, and being ready to take your kid and bolt at any time is a very bad idea.

As for the Anaheim shooting so far one of the 3 who was shot was armed, all 3 had known gang affiliations. If your a known gang member who runs and reaches into your pocket, that's a good way to get yourself shot. It's about the media and idiots like you who are quick to blame it on guns instead of say psychological problems or a bunch of other factors.
