Help me select a good coffee machine!

Normally I would post something like this in the random question thread, but I feel like other people might benefit from reading it and that there is probably much to said about the topic anyways. I'm looking for a new coffee machine. I like drip coffee, not french press. Any coffee machine I've ever had ends up dieing within a few months. The coffee is alright at first but near the end it tastes like there is some kind of plastic residue or something. I've tried cleaning with vinegar and the like. It never goes away. I'm looking for something that won't do that. I was thinking an all stainless steel machine, something like this. Not completely sure though.

    Keurig, period.

Buy a cheap black and decker until you have the money to afford a Keurig

I've heard that before, just not too sure about them either. They look exactly like the ones that die on me in a few months. I'm not the only person who uses these machines, my entire family makes like 2~3 cups of coffee a day per person (which is why I was thinking something like that Bunn, which is what they use at 7-11.)

Kuerig is nice if you like different flavors all the time. I have one at my desk and I keep around 10 different flavors. I have apple cider, hot chocolate, cafe mocha, french vanilla, english breakfast tea, french roast, hazelnut, newmans own, timothy's decaf, caribou blend, and probably some other in the case I keep on a shelf. I can make whatever I'm in the mood for and can offer others whichever they prefer.

I got one for my mother and it's kind of a waste for her. As long as the coffee is black and hot she'll drink it. Half the time she just drinks the nasty Tasters Choice instant crystals. But it does work nice for guests, so I'm still glad I got it for her.

If you and your family just drink the same basic coffee all the time I'd recommend just getting a good drip machine or percolator.

    I have a Keurig.

A relative of mine got it for me for Christmas.

Then took forever to send it. Ended up taking so long another family member said fuck it and sent me one.

I asked if she could be written out of the will for taking so long.

Don't fuck with me and my coffee.

P.S.: Dark Hot Cocoa flavor is fucking amazing.

Keurigs are great little machines. However they aren't the best made product. We've had to return three Keurigs because of what's called the "Prime" error. Machine works fine for several months and then all of a sudden after every cup of coffee the word Prime appears on the LCD screen. You physically have to remove the water tank and reinsert it for it to go away. Keurig has acknowledged the problem but has yet to fix it. From what I've read it stems from air pockets getting trapped in the filter so the machine thinks there's a problem. Other than that it's an awesome thing. I never thought I would use ours as much as I do. Don't let the issues we've had with ours scare you off, they are definitely worth the money. Just make sure you purchase it from Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Kohl's since they will take returns with pretty much no questions asked.

5thing or 6thing Keurigs. Have one. They come with a filter so you can buy ground coffee and make whatever brand you like(it's cheaper than buying k-cups all the time).

I have a Cuisinart for drip coffee (and a Keurig, but I don't like drip coffee out of it), and an espresso machine, I'm a coffee addict. The Cuisinart has lasted five years so far, the coffee still tastes great, I've got no complaints so I'd recommend it. You have to clean them regularly though, from the start, not just when the flavor changes.

After looking, my model isn't available anymore. Well, hopefully their new ones are good.

We have a great one at home, the machine itself is relatively standard but the pot is fantastic, I'll try to get the model when I get home tonight.

You should get a french press.

Fuck a keurig, get one of these: http://www.bunnathome.com/products/velocity-brew

If you're looking for a fucking SOLID drip coffee maker that will make a great pot in about 3 minutes.

You'd have to pry this coffee maker from my dead ass hands if you want mine.

Start coffee, go piss, come back and drink coffee. Awesome.

I second a Cuisnart. I have one with a built in grinder that I've had since like 2006 and still works phenomenally. It's definitely a bit more work since you have to clean it properly after every use (I make coffee in the morning and just clean it when I get home), but the coffee beans are fresh and taste fantastic. My only regret is that it doesn't have a burr grinder cause I didn't know the benefit of them when I bought it, but it looks like they have some that have burr grinders now.

I used a Cuisine Art (Similar to this one; idr my model) coffee maker for my dorm: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden...6/product.html

    I wasn't impressed tbh.

    Good:
    - Makes coffee
    - Has a programming function for setting when to make coffee
    - lol

    Terribad:
    - When set to 3-cups mode, coffee production would be slower
    - Could not set the machine to keep the coffee hot after production
    - Difficult to clean
    - Imo, not hot enough
    - Says set to 12-cups, but if you try that, the machine keeps going even when 12-cups are done and the water is done

Excuse any weird language; today is weird...

Must be a different model than mine, I can keep mine hot after it's done, shuts off the warmer after two hours in case I forget.
