Tossing my vote in for a keurig. The cups can be expensive unless you are willing to look around online.

Wow, how can anyone not like French Pressed coffee?
(Yeah, yeah, don't want to chew your coffee, blah blah)
Does your dislike extend to pour overs too? Pour overs are ridiculously smooth.

I'm not familiar with french press. I am poor so I've been rocking the same mr. coffee $20 for 3 years and I'll say for the price and it's duration I'm pleased. When I can afford it, I was looking at Bunn as well. My sister in law has one of those mega duty keurig machines. While I do think the coffee is good, I wouldn't get one based on the fact I like my coffee strong and I drink a ton of it each day I wouldn't be able to afford it.
Some Keurig machines are able to make coffee from grinds (what I want to do, not really interested in k-cups.) French press is kind of like a halfway between drip and espresso except you end up with gritty coffee. I'm sure there are better presses than the ones I've used that are capable of making better than drip coffee that isn't gritty, but having to clean that shit every time I use is not something I always want to do.
Most Keurigs accept one of these:

Which I think I have seen for all of $12 or so somewhere.
I'm also a fan of the Cuisinart with built in grinder.
working at a place that sells a lot of coffee makers (where I see a lot of returns too), keurigs are convenient but expensive. You said you have 3-4 cups a day? That means you'll go through a box of coffee every 4-5 days, with each box costing 12-15 bucks (18 pods a box for most kinds).
Biggest scam in the world, buy it at bed bath and beyond if you want one. Get one of their 20% coupons, which makes it a pretty decent deal. Then, if you ever get a priming issue or the machine just breaks (which happens to the majority of the machines after at least a year), take it to the store and exchange it. People do that shit all the time, I swear more then half the machines leaving my store are exchanges like that.
If not, and you are wop status, there are some $1300 machines that take whole grind, grind it, and make a single cup of coffee. Then it ejects the grind into its internal container. There are more affordable options, but I wouldn't get any of the sub $1300 ones.
A coffee machine is not required:

I got a keurig, but I end up using my percolator a lot more since I drink more coffee. I agree with salodin about the boxes being a scam though. You will go through them things fast. If you drinking more then one cup get a percolator or a regular coffee pot/machine
I drink anywhere between 4-6 cups of coffee a day. Keurig wouldn't be cost effective for me at all. Bunn's are typically associated with being restaurant grade and rarely break. They function at a high level and are extremely fast. Geez, I think I just sold myself![]()
The only thing about those bunns is that you need to keep them filled with water all the way up, and every time it runs, all of that water needs to be heated. It's a lot of energy just to make a single pot of coffee.
