2.0 website and trailer...

Don't think we will have to worry lol, after spending 2+ years trying to recreate the world, I don't think they are going to want to stomach more of it. The new banner on the facebook page hints they already got an idea how big they want to make the FFXIV world :D.

You can see just how big Eorzea is compared to the rest of the world in what limited view you get. Makes you wonder if they already created a temp render of what they think the world should look like for years to come?

I don't know how much of the rest of Hydaelyn they'd revealed information about before..
but the A Realm Reborn (gonna call it ARR) site does clue us in.

Eorzea itself is comprised of the continent of Aldenard and its nearby islands (Vylbrand being a big one of those).

There are 2 other great continents in the world, Islabard to the north and Othard to the east, and both are mostly controlled by the Garlean empire.
the Garleans come from Garlemald which is a part of the northern continent.

also from in-game and other related media
we do know also of a city state of Radz-at-Han to the near east (across the sea of Jade) on the island nation of Thavnair, and a continent to the south called Mercydia.

its a bit too early to explore those places, but nice to know they're starting to flesh them out a lot earlier instead of mentioning them like once and then introducing it more often when an expansion is announced

People asking for gameplay trailers... surely gameplay in V2 is going to be mostly similar to what we have now? They've already overhauled the battle system and introduced jobs. I can't imagine that changing much more.

Eh, I can see the trailer perspective from both sides of the coin. The CGI trailer isn't all bad, some questions were answered, some new questions are being asked. I never really expected anything mind blowing to come out until TGS which is sept 20th regarding 2.0. We'll get some tidbits all throughout August, but the real holy shit stuff isn't going to come before TGS.

TGS is way too late, by then we should already be in alpha. The flood of info starts next week, they'll update the website regularly and then we have Gamescom and the anniversary event for further announcements.
There's no place for 2.0 at TGS anyway considering they're likely going to show Versus there and whatever they're announcing at the anniversary (XIII-3, XV, etc.).

Ability lock is going away and we all should be getting new abilities. Then if they've fixed battle regimens, that something that will be different. Will it break the MMO mold? I really doubt it, but things will be changing. However, I admit it probably isn't something anyone can appreciate by watching a video.

yep, considering they are famous for not delivering on schedule. Not to mention they never gave a date in August, they just said August, which to them usually means the 31st, at 11:59pm jst.

Hmm what? Everything is on schedule actually. Despite a few delays on patches everything is where it should be if you look at their roadmap. The trailer was even released earlier.

Here's a question: if we get sent to the 'future', then how in the world does anyone else survive to rebuild the world? For that matter, if the cities are going to be slightly wrecked (ie not HUGELY changed), why couldn't our characters hide out in the city safe spots?

They said they were gonna release the trailer at Gamescom and start promoting then but obviously they decided to start earlier. Either way there's Gamescom and the anniversary event coming up soon.
