I'm working on redoing the trailer with different music and another voice over for funsies. Just gotta find my mic and stand and set it up.
Actually no, I'm quite glad that someone likes the trailer because I like the trailer too. I just think people are getting caught up over the CGI and the VO and not focusing on what's in the trailer. Would I have liked some actually gameplay? Yeah definitely, but most people aren't realizing how different this trailer was from the Version 1.0 trailer. I felt that this teaser trailer was more Final Fantasy than the V1.0 trailer and has actual shit that has happen (or going to happen) in the game. I'm not going to lie the Final Fantasy-ness of the trailer got me more pumped than anything.
1.0's opening sequence had a glimpse of Ifrit and a few other primals after Bahamut went down with the Garlean ship while the Limsa Lominsa opening scene had Leviathan.
edit: MIDGARDSORMR SORRY
Guys that dragon wasn't Bahamut, it was Midgardsormr.
To preemptively respond to the inevitable "Nu-uh! They never said! That's totally Bahamut!" and/or "Source or I won't believe it!", it was finally officially identified in a Lodestone Lore post regarding the Garlean stronghold in Mor Dhona.
Insert "It only says dominant theory and doesn't confirm 100%!" response here. The Empire has long exhibited uncommon interest in this area—one might recall the fleet of warships deployed to occupy Mor Dhona some ten years past. Though that particular attempt was foiled in rather spectacular fashion by a dragon of immense proportions—whom the dominant theory holds to be the legendary wyrm, Midgardsomr—the imperial forces have, it seems, finally succeeded in establishing a foothold in the region.
this here confirms it
Mor Dhona is an inland region of Eorzea, and the site of the first aerial battle in recorded history - a conflict that took place above Silvertear Lake. In the Year 1562 of the Sixth Astral Era, five years after the invasion of Ala Mhigo, the Garlean Empire finally rose from apparent inactivity to resume its attack on Eorzea. A fleet of airships was deployed to Mor Dhona, led by the massive flagship Agrius.
As the imperial fleet advanced into the skies above Silvertear Lake, the largest inland body of water in Aldenard, it was met with a wholly unexpected sight. Midgardsormr, the dragon deity of the lake, had arisen, summoned by a hand unknown. And as if to answer the mighty wyrm's call, a host of dragons flew in from the northwestern reaches of Dravania and fell upon the empire's forces. The air was filled with the deafening roars of cannons and dragonkin alike. Locked in a deadly embrace, the thunderous impact of Midgardsormr and the dreadnought Agrius tolled their mutual demise. Thus ended the Battle of Silvertear Skies.
Also that scholar whatshisname that hangs in Uldah (MNK AF related) he can also verify it is indeed midgardsormr, as well as other cool lore details![]()
Not to mention Bahamut has never been that ugly <_<
This is so true. Also go do To Kill A Raven and its subsequent cutscenes and tell me FFXIV isn't FF enough.

Courtesy of the official forums, looks like we'll be seeing the game live in action at gamescom.
P.s. I laughed a bit when they described 'Sleeping dogs' as highly anticipated, looks kinda shitty.
I think the 16th is close enough. Don't forget the FF anniversary event at the end of the month as well.
Yeah no kidding. I've been following the game for a while and it looks like this year's sleeper hit (no pun intended).
But back on topic, as reported the game will be demoed/displayed at Gamescom... Let's pray this goes better than the last time they showed this game there.
